It was pleasant experience with Dr. Hong and friendly staff members. Everyone working with professionalism.

Dr. Hong was amazing!!! For such an unpleasant procedure such as a root canal, he made the whole experience super easy. It took like 10 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. He was very reassuring throughout the entire procedure knowing I was anxious. He is a very kind and skilled doctor. 10/10 recommend!

One star is not low enough. I got a shot of Novocain at the beginning and he wasted little or no time before asking "Are you numb?" "I don't feel numb" I replied. "Are you in pain?" "No" "Then you are numb" he said. I'm sorry, isn't that my call?????? He moved right along with the procedure of removing the crown and drilling out the infected tooth. Two times I said "I can feel that." He ignored me. Finally he asked "You need more Novocain?" "Yes!" Instead of giving me a shot, he took some sharp object , jammed it down the tooth cavity causing me incredible pain and said "There, I've killed whatever was down there. No more pain." Sorry, pal, that was not what I had in mind. DO NOT GO TO THIS GUY. I cannot imagine a worse experience. One star is not low enough. Was referred by dentist. Amazing staff, service, can't say enough nice things about the place.

Within 5 minutes he figured out the problem and got down to business. The way he worked was really efficient and professional. The procedure was almost pain free (novocaine shot hurt a little), I was comfortable the whole time and staff was efficient and friendly.

Dr. Hong is a very experienced and competent endodontist with incredible skills. He is knowledgeable, honest, compassionate, and professional. Above all, he has a kindest heart. Dr. Hong was knowledgeable, worked fast and had light hands. However, his business practice and staff are dishonest. Dr. Hong's office used to be a provider for FepBlue Dental but it is no longer part of the network. When I set up an appointment, the woman I spoke to asked about my insurance and did not mention anything about not being in the network. And so I went to see Dr. Hong. And when I was already sitting on the chair after waiting to be seen for more than 15 minutes, an admin staff came and told me the cost ($1950 for a root canal). She also said my insurance requires that I pay upfront. Since I was already sitting on the chair and thinking that this is how my insurance works with non-providers (just found out then), I went ahead with the procedure and paid upfront. I later found out from my insurance that paying upfront is not what they told the woman from Dr. Hong's office, that this Dr. Hong's policy, not my insurance's.

I was surprised and called to their office and a woman answered. Then she opened the door. She told me that there is no such appointment in their system. I showed her their call and voice message to confirm my appointment. Of course, the dentist was out of office and not answering the call from his office. Dr. Hong retuned to his office after hours to perform an emergency root canal for me. He was friendly, kind and very competent. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an endodontist!

The GOOD: I was greeted by a very friendly front desk staff when I arrived. I'd Googled Dr. Hong and based on good reviews, went in after my doctor noticed some excess tissue around the gum area. Turned out to be an infection which Dr. Hong identified. 1 week ago, he cleaned the canal, put me on antibiotics to treat infection and scheduled a follow-up. The BAD: The bedside manner was definitely up there with one of the worst I've had. Fortunately, I've had some great dentists! Dr. Hong didn't care about the fact that he was actually drilling in a human skull which was quite uncomfortable. While I did not feel ANY PAIN, jerking my head around and "speeding" through the work definitely didn't leave a good impression of him for me. Whenever I asked a question, he was also quite sarcastic. I'd asked if he could look at a took I had a similar concern with. Though the x-rays were taken and the concern was mentioned to the Dental Assistant, he would not give me any feedback and instead told me to go to my dentist and if my Dentist said I needed to come back, only THEN would he see me. What sense does that make if I"m already sitting in your chair??? When I asked him if the infection cleared, he sarcastically responded "if you break your arm, it won't be healed in a week will it?" I'm not stupid and don't appreciate the comments. While I appreciate that he had a sense of urgency in doing the work, I don't think that it is a good fit for me to return! Dr. Hong was available to do a root canal on a Saturday. He was competent, clear, compassionate and truthful. He did a great job, and his staff are terrific, too.

An endodentist who is skilled and knows how to do the job right should be a given and Dr. Hong knows what he is doing. What makes Dr. Hong exceptional is his calm, friendly personality that immediately puts you at ease. Something very important when you are having a root canal. But that isn't all that puts him above the rest. I was in the middle of nowhere PA for 4 days suffering in extreme pain before I got to an endodentist. I called when the office opened on a Monday at 8AM and I was rushed in and done by 8:45AM. Hopefully you never have to experience an absessed tooth, but if you do and are in the DC area this is the dentist to see. I went to Dr. Hong to fix and complete a root canal started by another doctor, over a year earlier (I didn't know it had not worked). Needless to say I was nervous about how far the decay had progressed, and what it might mean in terms of treatment. Dr. Hong put me at ease and promised I would not feel any pain, and he kept his promise both times (I have one more scheduled visit). I am normally a dental-phobic person, but after my first visit with Dr. Hong, I didn't feel the normal anxiety associated with any kind of dental work. Patients are in the chair very punctually, which is even better (no chance for that anxiety to reach the normal inner crescendo). Dr. Hong continually asks how the patient is doing while he proceeds, which is comforting. I highly recommend anyone who needs any kind of endodontic work, to go to Dr. Hong.
