Dr Melone went above and beyond to restore function and mobility back in my hands. I had 3 surgeries since I was 22 years old. Phenomenal expertise and help. Thank you so much Dr Melone!

Wasted an afternoon waiting for the doctor. After scheduling a month in advance they tried to tell me someone had called to cancel. Made me wait over an hour and then told me it would be at least another 90 minutes. Typical scheduling nightmares at Mt Sinai.

This Dr. got me back up and running in no time. My left arm works great since you completed my surgery. Experience matters. Fun times.

After waiting a month for an appointment, which I also confirmed online, they told me my appointment was cancelled. When I showed them I had confirmed, they let me sit for an hour in the waiting room before telling me it would be another 90 minutes or so. Complete lack of respect for patients. Very typical of Mt Sinai doctors. Go elsewhere.

Back around 1998, before Google reviews, I was referred to Dr Melone by my orthopedic Dr because of the nature of the break. He said I needed the best. My thumb was broken just outside of my wrist leaving very little to work with. Dr Melone surgically applied pins and successfully repaired the broken bone. I'm forever thankful and highly recommend him. Back around 1998, before Google reviews, I was referred to Dr Melone by my orthopedic Dr because of the nature of the break. He said I needed the best. The surgeon is amazing. I received thumb surgery (broken/torn ligament) from him in 2017. The secretary is the problem. Cecilia was very argumentative and had zero empathy for me, making the process much more stressful than usual. Dr. Melone has performed five surgeries on my left hand. I'm a professional musician, and could not afford a poor outcome, so I thoroughly researched my choice of a surgeon before choosing Dr. Melone. He performed three trigger-finger releases, capsule surgery on the thumb and a complex repair to the ring finger's second knuckle after a bandsaw mishap nearly severed the finger. He is a world-class practitioner.

37 years ago, Dr. Melone was part of a phenomenal practice, Hand Surgery Associates. He consulted with my main hand specialist. Dr. Joel Grad. His exceptionally kind expertise was most welcome at a very frightening time. Over the years, I have heard excellent things about him.

I had the unfortunate luck to have to have both wrist surgery for a distal radial fracture and finger surgery for a crushed fingertip from two different accidents. Dr Melone could not have done a better job and treated me with care and respect throughout. I see people complaining about waiting a few hours, but when a doctor takes the time necessary to do everything correctly, sometimes there is a wait. I would have waited a week for the results I got. My wrist is perfect, even though it was in MANY tiny pieces on the x-ray, I only have a scar to show for it but the function is perfect, as if I never had surgery. My finger is even better, the nail bed was repaired (as well as the bone in the fingertip) and he did such a good job I honestly could not even tell you which finger it is now. There is literally no discernible difference. If you are looking for the best results from a surgeon, feel lucky to have Dr Melone taking care of you. Wait times are irrelevant, it is the healing that matters. Dr. Melone performed an incorrect surgery on my wrist for a young athlete. I was a 23 year old sponsored athlete at the time with minor wrist instability. I am now disabled for the remainder of my life due to his work. He will perform more complex procedures than what is necessary and will neglect to consider if the surgery can last more than a year or two. I would love to know if anyone can fix Melone's mistakes. I have been trying to find a surgeon that can fix his incorrect wrist surgery for a year with no luck.

The wait times are very long. 2 hours on average. Disappointed by the results of the surgery. It did not correct the condition and left my hand worse off than it was before the surgery despite months of physical therapy. Moreover, Dr Melone did not listen well to my concerns during the visits. I would not recommend him.

I went to see him for trigger finger. The doctor did his job well. Explained everything, answered all my questions. The surgical scheduling coordinator was horrendous. I took a day off of work to get my pre-op and Covid tests. The day before the surgery (for which I took another day off), I get a call literally one hour before the scheduling deadline that the insurance claim had not arrived because of some screw-up and now we have to reschedule. Now I have to take another day off for another Covid test and move my work schedule around AGAIN. Unprofessional and infuriating.

Dr. Malone and the other doctors are great. He did both my hands for carpal tunnel and trigger finger. The wait in the office is always long. The staff I feel is not very professional nor are they very friendly or nice to the patients. I don’t understand why when I need doctors lines complete for work there is a $25.00 fee. When I ask I was told this is a new policy. They don’t return calls back for questions related to work. I was told by his administrative assistant she don’t return call, so I ask then why don’t you fax the request back to my job and she told me she don’t do that neither. Again all the doctors are very nice and professional. The staff with the exception of two of the ladies were very nice and pleasant. I arrive for my appointment today at 10:00 am did not leave the office until after 12.35 pm. Dr. Malone and the other doctors are great. He did both my hands for carpal tunnel and trigger finger. Many years ago, I believe it was in 1999, Dr. Melone reconstructed a wrist bone surgery from 6 months previous that had not healed properly. This was a serious break of my left wrist. He and his team were professional and encouraged me to have this second surgery despite my resistance. I was in a cast many months after, but I am happy to report that my left wrist is strong and sometimes stronger, I think, then my favored right hand. And I also remember Dr. Meline’s gentle and excellent bedside manner as I asked and he reassured me that I was alive after 5 1/2 hours of surgery. Dr. Melone is a top-notch surgeon who is so humble and approachable but with vast knowledge of his work. It is very rare to meet in one individual all the attributes of a great doctor, who in addition to his knowledge of medical science seems also to have a PhD in human interaction. No wonder he is a successful professional. Dr Melone is flanked by distinguished professionals. I wish to praise this young man named Joel Bastien for his dedication and knowledge of his job. Kudos to the Dr's team.

D.R. Melone has a lot of experience but is slow and very unprofessional. His post op care led my hand to have contractures because he did not diagnose or treat them properly. In addition you could wait 3-4 hours to be seen for a follow up appointment. ( no emergencies going on). He just took his time ANA chatted on the phone. I would Never recommend him. I have switched to another hand surgeon for follow up care.

Rebuilt my left thumb in 1978 when I was 28. It was torn off water skiing, can't imagine what life would have been like if I had not met him! With my hand attached to my side for a month, he took care of my mind as well as my body! Great Man as well as Great Surgeon!!!!!

Really negative experience for someone supposed to be "one of the best". Every office appointment = guaranteed waiting room time of 2-4 hours. That's shows a total lack of respect for patients. 6 months post surgery - hand is worse than before.

Dr. Melone may be a very fine hand surgeon, I have no reason to think that he is not but, be forewarned. This man has no respect for his patients and their time. If you arrive on time, be prepared to wait never less than three hours for each visit. This is just the way that it is here. if you arrive on time and inquire how far behind he is, the receptionist will respond, 'the usual' which means that not less than five people are waiting to be seen, before you. You will, if you come often enough, observe patients in the waiting room taking their meals there. . . . Excellent experience! Dr. Malone was expertise in diagnosing and recommending corrective surgery for my long standing and incapacitating Carpal Tunnel syndrome and trigger finger of the 4th digit of my right hand. The surgery he performed was totally curative. The chronic numbness of my thumb, index and middle finger was immediately relieved and has never returned and the trigger finger totally corrected. Dr. Melone ruined my career and passion. DO NOT get wrist surgery with Dr. Melone if you are an athlete. I was riding BMX professionally and had a crash that resulted in a wrist injury. Dr. Melone confidently told me that he could do a procedure that would make my wrist stronger than when I was born. I made the mistake of trusting him and going into surgery. He did an unnecessarily complicated procedure that left my wrist crooked, painful, and has led to more problems than I had before surgery.
