Dr. Carlos Mcclellan Kier

I wish I could give zero stars. I saw DR. Kier for the first time yesterday, 08/10/21. I was not at all pleased with how he handled my visit or spoke to me as a patient. I have a history of Rheumatoid Arthritis. He VERY briefly assessed my condition, didn't even look at my records, and determined that I also have Osteoarthritis, as well as Sjogren's Syndrome without any medical testing--said it would be a waste of time. Further, he said that since I am "getting old and there is no treatment for OA, that I should just continue to take ibuprofen over the counter." He further stated that I did not need any further follow-up or lab work of any kind. After a BRIEF visit totaling 15 minutes, I was dismissed. I came to see him with legitimate concerns that I wanted addressed--they were dismissed. Did I say dismissed? Yes, dismissed. He did not even entertain them. Looking for a rheumatologist several years ago, I had problems finding one that (in my opinion) understood the doctor/patient relationship. Someone told me about Dr. Kier and said if I had a problem with him then I was the problem. When I met him and we discussed my health, I knew I found a doctor that would take care of me. He would still be my rheumatologist had I not moved to the east coast. He thoroughly explained treatments and answered all questions. Great doctor, great person.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Kier’s since 1/2002. He has been a wonderful doctor for me for nearly 20 years. I see him every 12 weeks regularly. I have Psoriatic Arthropathy, Generalized Osteoarthritis, Cervical and Lumbar Spondylosis and I take a number of high risk medications to treat my diseases. I went on disability because of my health in 2003. Dr. Kier has always been extremely supportive of my needs on disability in regard to completing paperwork to evidence my condition with insurers. I am an informed patient myself, but Dr. Kier has been extremely valuable to me because of his extensive knowledge and experience. I also have other medical issues and he has been so very helpful in providing information and coordinating my care. Dr. Carlos Kier is a fantastic physician and I highly recommend him.

Wasted an hour!

Dr. Kier has been treating me for several years. I like his bedside manner although I see other reviewers do not. He is very honest and that probably rubs some folks the wrong way. I personally appreciate his candor. If my condition will improve if I lose weight and he tells me that, then fine, I'm fat and I will work on it.

Horrible! I saw Dr. Kier in 2017 and it was the worst visit to a doctor I've every had. He wasn't a nice person to me (I was in my early 30's at the time) and told me I had parvovirus. I had blood tests done and no call back if they were good/bad. I flat out refused to go back; called and cancelled my 2nd appointment. Found a way better Rheumatologist (Dr. Hester) and was actually diagnosed with RA. She told me my lab work for inflammation was off the charts and was classic for that. Why was it so easy for her to see this, but not Dr. Kier? I think it may be time for this man to retire from the practice!

I had to wait 3 months to see doctor Kier, finally I have seen him. I am suffer knee pain very bad, and he told me " is just arthritis on my knee, is normal for my ages to get it " I have 55 years old. Took 2 blood test and after 3 weeks don't receive any calls about my results, when I called the nurse or receptionist told me my results are negative. So I don't need to see the doctor again. I saw him just 5 minutos, paid my deductibles $150, And don't find any solution until now six months later my knees still hurt. I had to wait 3 months to see doctor Kier, finally I have seen him. He didnt keep up with your prognoses never felt any connection. Rhis was in 2013

I got in earlier than expected (call to check for cancellations!), staff was friendly, Dr. Kier was GREAT. I had an emotional outburst and was confused, and directed it at him-but he was patient and understanding, and helped me and my partner understand. He had a great sense of humor and I am grateful to him for letting me explode and come back to my senses...I really was a mess. He helped me narrow down my next steps and was honest about what he could and couldn't do for me.

My story So 3 years ago, I lived in Midland, TX which is 9 hours from home. I woke up one morning and I couldn’t move an inch of my body, no arm, leg, nothing. I had no idea what was wrong so I called my brother crying while he was at work. He rushed home to find out what was wrong and rushed me to the hospital. They hooked me up to Ivs, and took multiple blood test. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong so they sent me back home. At this point I couldn’t take it so I called my mom and she rushed wayyyy from Atlanta, TX and made the 9 hour drive to get me and bring me back home. We made another trip to the hospital and still no findings. Just pain meds. I couldn’t do anything on my own, including use the bathroom. I began to feel a little better, and I had a trip coming up to Cabo, Mexico that I definitely didn’t want to miss. I WON THE TRIP AT WORK.... So we went. On day 3 I started sweating really bad and my sheets were soaked! So we went to the hospital, again no findings. The next day we flew home. I’d made no progress. Hospital visit after visit no one knew what was wrong, but they thought I had lime disease. Wasn’t it. 3 months later my nurse practitioner took blood test and suggested it was likely lupus. And DING!!! It was. We finally got an explanation for the symptoms, and needed to find a rhumetologist. His name was Dr Kier. He prescribed me with Prednisone and suggested I have weekly visits. I did so, but after a few weeks it stopped helping and his response was always “oh it’s just the lupus.” Very poor response, so I stopped seeing him. I found Rosy Rahjbandary online whom had excellent reviews! She suggested I take bynlista infusions. After my 2nd one I started getting really sick and throwing up and passing out often. So I stopped. A few weeks later I moved to Dallas, TX. I made a visit to Parkland Hospital where I stayed a whole month. I had an entire TEAM of doctors who took very good care of me, kept me informed on what was going on, and gave me lots of knowledgable information. I stayed an entire month until they released me making sure I was ok. During this time I developed Raynoids Syndrome so it was difficult to use my hands. So my mom had to dress me daily. I decided to see a rhuemetologist at Parkland and make him my permanent doctor. He’s been great! This is who helped get me to remission praise God. My meds taper off weekly and I’m so thankful that God placed HIM in my life as my guardian angel here on earth. All glory be to him. I saw Dr. Kier for joint pain and unexplained fevers. He immediately labeled me as drug seeking and told me there was no need to come back to see him. He did note that my joints were hypermobile, which was the first time I had heard this. After researching hypermobile joints, I found a geneticist who diagnosed me with Ehler's Danlos Syndrome, (EDS) which causes frequent joint dislocations and chronic pain! I am thankful he said the buzzword hypermobile but wish he was educated on EDS.

very friendly and knowledgeable Doctor......I had an 8 AM appointment time....the door was not even unlocked until 7:58.....the staff had to turn on the computers....go get their breakfast items....so I was not even checked in until 8:10....so much for the notice to be there 10 minutes before your appointment.....I asked if this was normal procedure....oh, yes.....I am always here by 8. (reception.....ok fine ...then don't schedule an appointment for a patient until you are ready to see someone!
