not straight forward, not empathetic, not clear with his oncology patients, I would not recommend going to him.

Dr. Beccera is very considerate, compassionate and he is very knowledgeable. His staff makes me feel like I can reach out to them at any time. Thank you.

When it comes to ones life, first contact to an Oncologist is essential. I am sure Dr. Becerra is a fine Oncologist and I would have loved the chance to find out. However, after calling the scheduling department twice and dialing for a 3rd time I finally got a return call. The scheduling assistant sounded very put out that I had called twice, and then after talking to her I was told that Dr. Bacerra was out of touch and would not return until the next week. This next statement made me go seek another Oncologist. "After he reviews your file, he will determine if he will take your case. If he does, I will call you back to make an appointment". Our insurance was also questioned. Please do not let this deter you from seeking medical help. As I said, I am convinced he is a fine Doctor, this review is more related to his scheduling staff and not him. A friendly supportive voice is necessary when dealing with life threatening illnesses. I've known Dr. Becerra for many years on a personal level, and knew of his professional career, but never had to receive any medical attention or advice. This all changed when I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in late 2019. While I was hesitant at first because of my personal relationship with Dr. Becerra, he was very patient with my adjustment to treatment and kept me motivated and well informed throughout the process. His appointments were never rushed and Dr. Becerra and his entire staff were very attentive. I had to experience many of my treatments during the height of COVID in 2020, and I felt that the attention to my care and additional precautions taken were taken into consideration. After a number of treatments and a surgery, I am cancer free. I continue to visit Dr. Becerra for routine follow-ups and he remains very attentive to my health and recovery. Based on my experience, I would certainly recommend Dr. Becerra for anyone that is dealing with decisions regarding their treatment or the treatment of a family member. Dr. Becerra was not easy to understand and did not spend much time getting to know the patient, talking about the trials, etc. Problems reaching his office and getting calls back and worst- working with those that handle insurance. We'd told them exactly what CIGNA need, they did not listen, argued and days passed. Then a week later his office calls to say they had scheduled a test. When you are dealing with pancreatic cancer the lack of care/urgency is just not ok.
