Dr Heilman is compassionate and takes time to answer all your questions. He works on plans that are patient centered and does not think surgery is the only or best option for every patient. I highly recommend seeing him for a consult if you have treatment plan questions or want a second opinion

Caring and utterly thorough

Dr Hellman is very compassionate. He is also very knowledgeable and explains things so the average person can understand.

Dr. Heilman is genuinely caring with his patient's 100%. My daughter was 16 with condrosarcoma. At 35 we could not thank him enough for his compassion and empathy during many years of visits. We always looked forward to seeing him. Thank you for being a Great Neurosurgeon????The Medico's

Dr. Heilman is incredible. My son, who is now 23, had two significant brain bleeds at birth. He was not expected to live. Without Dr. Heilman’s skilled hands he would not have lived. I will never be able to express how grateful I am for Dr. Heilman. He has operated on my son several times over the years and his skills, his bedside manner and his knowledge never disappoint. He is an incredible doctor. We are truly blessed to have him on our team.

If you are faced with the decision about who to see about a brain tumor I strongly recommend you see Dr. Heilman at Tufts. I have met with a few neurosurgeons over the years and ultimately had a benign tumor removed by Dr. Heilman. I couldn't say enough good things about him, the surgery he performed on me at Tufts and the care I received afterwards. For me... the stage your in now was the hardest part. I'm very glad I went to him and I am very grateful for what he did for me and my family.

We brought our son to Dr Heilman because of a complex issue with hydrocephalus-we thought he was fantastic! Easy to reach, thoughtful, respectful. Our son who was 16 at the time ultimately chose another surgeon who was younger-we wish he had stayed with Dr. H.! I'd recommend him to anyone who needs a neurosurgeon, and his APRN is also incredibly knowledgeable and accessible.

Our daughter was referred to Dr. Heilman from Dr. Penar at UVM. Dr. Heilman performed successful surgery to remove a brain tumor which was difficult to reach. Our family will forever be thankful to all involved.

Dr Heilman operated on my son's brain tumor. He is a caring and truly skilled neurosurgeon. He answered all our questions and did the best he could to ease our anxiety. The operation was very successful.
