About Brynie S Collins
Reviews for Brynie S Collins
Dr. Collins is so knowledgeable and very good with children . It’s hard to trust someone when it comes to your child but I give her my full trust. She evaluated my daughter and also took the time to explain everything to me. My appointment was at 2, she came in at 1:59 and was thorough but quick. I waited a total of under 5 minutes for her. The staff was very kind too. Dr. Collins is so knowledgeable and very good with children . It’s hard to trust someone when it comes to your child but I give her my full trust. This review is so long overdue (I saw Dr. Collins in 2013/14!), but recently I've had rough experiences with other doctors that reminded me how wonderful Dr. Collins was. I abruptly started having gastrointestinal issues that were uncomfortable at best and debilitating at worst. I was totally panicked, extremely sick, and losing weight rapidly from my inability to eat anything. I saw Dr. Collins on a referral from my pediatrician and she was phenomenal from start to finish. She had an empathetic and calm demeanor while at the same time being very straightforward and practical. I trusted her decisions and treatment plan completely and I would recommend her to anyone! We were so lucky to find Dr Collins. She has been so wonderful navigating us through such a scary time with our little guy.
Dr. Collins - you and your staff are amazing!! I’m so happy I was so highly referred to you and the way you saved my son from his chronic pain was a miracle! Thank you for always taking my calls, being so attentive in answering my emails promptly - you really helped to put my mind at ease and I am forever grateful.
Solid. Dr. Collins literally cuts all the unnecessary mumbo jumbo and gives direct counsel. If you are looking for someone to have lengthy discussions with she may not be your person (maybe try a therapist instead). If you are looking for someone to get straight to it and help your child, she is phenomenal. Diagnosed our son within minutes of seeing my him (over telehealth) and he stopped his 5 straight days of crying after heeding her directions. Highly recommend. Solid. Please do not waste your time going to this doctor if your child is ill and dealing with serious issues. This doctor spent less than five minutes with us - even after I told her how much my daughter is suffering. She asked and answered her own questions and didn't listen to anything we had to say. Thankfully we found an amazing doctor but had to go over the hill to BH @cedars. Stark contrast in the quality of care. This woman should not be allowed to work with sick kids!!!! The END! PERIOD! She is a very good and nice doctor ????
The appreciation my family has for this doctor is beyond words. My daughter was suffering from GI distress for several weeks after a stomach virus, and the in network pediatric gastroenterologist she saw provided little help. In fact, he raised more concerns and caused more discomfort by ordering unnecessary tests and imposing extreme dietary restrictions that weren't even helping. I chose to pay out of pocket for her to see Dr. Collins because we were desperate for assistance. WORTH EVERY PENNY! Within seconds of the appointment, she put us at ease with with her friendly demeanor and confident presence. She swiftly diagnosed my daughter, provided us with clear instruction and "lifted the food ban" imposed by the other Dr. She was kind, professional, attuned, supportive, thorough and is available via e mail for questions and concerns between appointments. What a relief! We walked into her office feeling scared and deflated and we left feeling confident and encouraged. Best of all, we got to celebrate by stopping for pizza on the way home (1st slice in SEVEN weeks)! A true gem in the medical community. The appreciation my family has for this doctor is beyond words. Great doctor. Takes care of my daughter for a few years now. Really cares and knows her stuff! I would highly recommend her.
If it was possible I would put negative stars for this doctor. She does not seem to care About my kid. The outpatient center she had on her list, not only was very rude when asking questions about what scopes were being used. When we found out that two of the hospitals on the list were found to not have their license updated, the doctor dropped my child as a patient. She is completely immature and inexperienced. Hi. I just had to write in. We saw Dr. Collins for a year or two re my non-verbal, severely autistic son's gastro issues around four years ago. I honestly don't know what the one star people are talking about. If it wasn't for the nightmare commute and a bit of a long office wait-time, we'd still be going there monthly. She was definitely one of the best pediatric gastro people we've seen, and, believe it or not, we've seen around seven different gastro people. She was patient, honest, compassionate, open-minded, firm when she needed to be, but in the kindest way, up on all the latest research, an advocate for her patient, always available on-line, etc.... I am guessing maybe some people either caught her on a rare off day, or they just expect godliness from a human being. Hi. I just had to write in. My son's first appointment at her practice was with her associate Dr. Bahar on 8-19-15. He was extremely brief in his assessment of my baby. At this point, my son had been suffering for over 5 weeks. I had done extensive research on infant vomiting and reflux. I asked Dr. Bahar if it could be Pyloric Stenosis and if we should do an ultrasound, as this condition matched many of my son's symptoms. My concerns were brushed off, and I was told that an ultrasound was not necessary. My son continued to suffer, and I decided to switch his care to Dr. Collins as I did not feel Dr. Bahar adequately assessed him. Our, first appointment with her was on 8-24-15. Again, I asked if this could be PS and should we do an ultrasound. Again, my concerns were dismissed, and it was determined by her that he had a milk protein allergy in addition to reflux and that was all. My son's condition continued to worsen, and I knew he had not been properly diagnosed. I felt certain that my son very likely had PS. Our next appointment with Dr. Collins was 9-4-15, and I told my husband that I would not be leaving with out an ultrasound. I knew something was wrong. Again, she tried to dismiss me when I brought up Pyloric Stenosis at this appointment. When, I asked for an ultrasound she acted like I was being ridiculous. She again said it was unnecessary, but that she would "allow it" for my peace of mind. She sent us downstairs to the Breast Cancer Research Center, and sure enough, the radiologist gave us the solemn news that my son DID IN FACT have Pyloric Stenosis. He said our Doctor's office wasn't answering their phone (go figure), and suggested we run back up there because they close early on Fridays. When, I told Dr. Collins that the test came back positive she didn't believe me! She called the radiologist, and then, she still didn't believe it and fought the diagnosis. So she sent us to Tarzana Hospital to do a barium swallow/Upper GI X-Ray. This also confirmed PS and when I called her to tell her this, AGAIN she did not not believe me! She literally said, "well, it's not that I don't believe you, but let me speak to the radiologist!" It was so belittling and crazy. I put him on the phone, and even he was rolling his eyes at her. It was as if she asked me to put my Mom on the phone - She was treating me like a child trying to get away with something. As if I wanted my son to have this condition or unnecessary surgery?? My son was finally admitted to the hospital and hooked up to IV as he was extremely dehydrated (As a medical professional, how could she not see how sick my baby was?). The next day, Saturday, he was ready and went into surgery. Dr. Collins didn't even check in with us after the surgery until Sunday afternoon. She could have at least called or texted on Saturday. When she finally came by the hospital on Sunday, I expected some sort of apology for all she put us through and for the way in which she fought his diagnosis, and in turn, delaying his treatment. I would have expected her to show some remorse for prolonging my son's illness. Instead, she showed no regret and continued to be defensive because "even his labs weren't consistent with PS," etc. etc. All I can say is, thank God I was persistent and listened to my gut motherly instincts. But, what if I had just listened to her? What if I hadn't done my own research and didn't even know about Pyloric Stenosis? My son was in her care for a month! Everyone I have spoken to can't believe what happened, and like us, cannot understand why we were refused an ultrasound at every visit. It makes no sense - It's just an ultrasound. She's not the one paying for it or even performing it! This Doctor has a giant ego. She thinks she is the "expert" and doesn't take the concerns of parents seriously. She looked at my husband and I as naive first time parents, and treated us with such a lack of respect. Parents know their babies better than anyone else. I knew in my gut for weeks that my son had Pyloric Stenosis, and I was right. And, that's no coincidence. My son's first appointment at her practice was with her associate Dr. Bahar on 8-19-15. He was extremely brief in his assessment of my baby. At this point, my son had been suffering for over 5 weeks. I had done extensive research on infant … More
Nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Collins! She has been reliable, attentive, caring, professional, and available to the needs of my 2 month old son who has been suffering from reflux, gas, and a dairy sensitivity. She came highly recommended to me from several different sources and it's easy to see why. She is truly a great doctor to have on your side, the first in my experience stay in touch via email, checking in to see that we are continuing to do well. Dr. Collins is an amazing Doctor! We took my infant daughter to her in hopes that she would be able to help us control the reflux she was suffering from. She helped us to find an effective solution to what was causing her a lot of discomfort. We saw Dr. Collins for a little over a year and during that time she gave our daughter excellent care. She went above and beyond the call of duty and allowed us to contact her via email whenever we had any questions or concerns regarding her care and always responded very quickly. The care our daughter received was definitely worth the hour drive we had to make to see her. I highly recommend Dr. Collins for any child who is struggling with GI issues.
