I swear by CHOP! Dr. Verneau doesn’t spend the time to listen to not only the patient or parent! He brushed my child off and now we have a serious issue. He doesn’t deserve the CHOP Dr. Title!

Be cautious; Dr. Verna made an incorrect & scary diagnosis. He ordered an X-ray of my 9 year olds ankle and foot & spent maybe a minute and a half examining her. He said that the X-ray didn’t show a break, nor did her physical exam- even though she was in tremendous pain. He diagnosed her with amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome aka AMPS. My daughter started crying and I almost did, as we had spent the past year, watching our eldest child suffer with that her horrendous pain syndrome. I asked why this couldn’t just be a simple sprain since it only occurred recently and why is he giving a much more serious diagnosis? In the end, we agreed to disagree and I left with my daughter. FYI; the treatment for AMPS is lots and lots of exercise and rubbing and moving the painful body part. Instead of following his treatment, we found another foot and ankle specialist who immediately said it looked broken, ordered an MRI and yes, her ankle was broken in the growth plate. If we had done what doctor Veranou had told us to do, imagine how much worse we would’ve made her ankle?!?! He was careless and needs to slow down with his examinations. Excellent at listening to children and seems very knowledgeable. Understands the realities of an active kid's life and makes practical yet effective treatment plans.

We had a fabulous visit with Dr Vernau. He was very positive and encouraging, helping us figure out what our daughter can do to get back to life after her concussion. Dr Vernau is obviously very comfortable and familiar with teenagers! He spoke directly to our daughter for most of the visit, making her feel empowered to take responsibility for her healing process. We travel an hour and half one way to see Dr Brian Vernau. At both of our appointments he was thorough and quick to have everything we discussed readily available for us. He is very professional, and knowledgeable at understanding my daughters rare issues and concussions along with her initial semi- compliance attitude. He has what I’d call a sixth sense gift with his keen ability to analyze people , their situations , and explain why the medical solutions ( in my daughters case exercise/ PT) are a necessity to getting back to normal without it seeming like a chore.
