My husband and I both work in Healthcare and pick our physicians with great care and research. Dr. Kaufman was recommended by multiple people, had great on line reviews and the staff at DCMC love him. Our son has seen Dr. Kaufman for scoliosis since he was 12. He is now 15 and is lucky to be in the group of kids who will not need surgery (so far) on his spine. It was important that we did not have a physician that rushed one to surgery. That we had someone who could communicate calmly with our son with warmth and compassion. Dr. Kaufman exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend him.

My son feel at recess and we needed an x-ray to make sure nothing was broken. We were able to call and get an appointment that same day. Upon arrival we were seen right at our appointment time. Dr. Kaufman and his staff were all great, and we had a wonderful experience. I will gladly choose Dr. Kaufman again.

Dr. Kaufman saw my 10 year old son the other day. He made him feel at ease, answered his questions, and provided a great experience for him. Turns out that he’s flat-footed and needs an arch support insert. Dr. Kaufman assured him that it’s a relatively common problem and nothing to worry about. My son left in great spirits. Thanks!

We moved from Lubbock and decided to find a specialist where we now live. It was a tough decision, but I'm glad it was made. The visit was easy, he was very professional and easy to talk to. He talked directly to my daughter and asked her the questions. Offered suggestions to ease my mind as a mother and a nurse. Highly recommend Dr. Kaufman

Dr. Kaufman was referred to us by my daughter's neurologist. She had a very high opinion of him and she couldn't have been more right. Dr. Kaufman performed a spinal fusion surgery on my 12 year old special needs daughter. She had a very complicated medical history. I truly felt like a really listened to everything I had to say and he answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed during any of our appointments. That happens frequently especially when you have a complicated child and a lot of information to give and a lot of questions to ask. I was instantly at ease and I did not even feel the need to get a second opinion. I trusted his judgment and he made me feel good about my choice to go forward with the surgery. We did have some complications just as I expected but it had nothing to do with his abilities as a surgeon. She is recovering beautifully. Better than I could have ever hoped for. I am so happy that we chose him as a surgeon. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

Dr. Kaufman performed a full spinal fusion on my 11 year old special needs daughter. Without question, he is a highly skilled surgeon. Beyond his medical skills he has the best bedside manner of any doctor with whom I’ve worked. He’s kind, compassionate, patient, supportive, and understanding. He made himself and his support staff available to answer all our questions. He explained things in easy to understand manner. You and your family are in exception hands with Dr. Kaufman!

Straight forward and concise.

Came here with shoulder and spine pain 1-2 years ago, took 1 single x-ray and said they didn't see anything. Pain continued and I came back again was the same routine with what seemed like very little care for my injuries or they didn't take me seriously. Again they said nothing was there. Pain has continued the entire time only getting worse and I went to a new doctor, upon arrival I had 12 x-rays taken at different angles and the Dr. Actually seemed like they cared and took the time to listen to my injuries and give a detailed response. After looking at the x-rays they said it was quite obvious I had scoliosis and a fracture of one of my vertebrae... I would not recommend Dr. Kaufman to anyone with a suspected injury or pain, not only will he not find your problem, but they will give little care and attentiveness to you when you try to explain it... Dr. Kaufman has followed our child's care for a couple of years now, and he is thoughtful and thorough without being aggressive. We appreciate his input and understanding of the impact of neuromuscular issues on the spine, etc.

From our daughter's surgery to her follow-up, Dr.Kaufman really did a good job. We can't thank him enough. He is the best hands down!

Very informative and works very well with children. He took a good amount of time on explaining his thoughts and recommendations as well as answering all of our questions in regards to our daughter. Extremely friendly and playful as well making my daughter feel very comfortable and safe. Highly recommend see Dr. Kaufman.

It was a very good visit. Dr. Kaufman was very friendly and professional. He explained everything clearly and made us feel better. We left feeling better and more hopeful than when we got there.

Dr. Kaufman was great however I was less than impressed with his office staff. I was told to be on the look out for new patient forms that would be emailed to me. Those forms were never sent and yes I checked Spam/Junk. I had to go to their website to pull the forms for myself. When I arrived to my surprise there was another form for COVID that was not included in that packet. When I went to check out the girl asked me what my copay was. I’m like I don’t know didn’t you verify my eligibility and benefits I’ve had this appt for almost a week. She rudely replied that no billing hadn’t done that yet and told me to guess what my copay was or to look on my card. I told her it’s not on my card. She then again asked me guess and requested me to pay that amount. I happen to work in the insurance field so I know this is not appropriate. It’s the practices job to verify benefits before the patient even walks in to ensure the patient’s insurance will cover the services provided.

Dr. Kaufman is great! He cared for my daughter well through her surgery. My daughter says, “He is really nice, funny, and made me not feel so nervous!”

We recently saw Dr. Kaufman for our son’s moderate scoliosis. He has a great bedside manner and spoke to our son on the perfect level. (A gifted ADHD level - it’s a challenge ??) He came highly recommended as THE pedi spine specialist. We left feeling confident our son would receive the gold standard of care.
