Dr. Brian Stephen Appleby

Dr Appleby listens to me and considers my input. He is very thorough and includes me in the plan of care. He encourages me to phone if I need to and is prompt to get back to me. He was very kind to me when my husband died. Dr Appleby is tops in my book!

He is very down to earth, easy to talk with and very, very knowledgeable about Parkinson's disease. We consistently have a good experiece when we see him.

I have seen Dr. Appleby since 2013. He saved my life. He listens, he's patient, asks questions of my answers to make sure he understands. I was in dementia at 60. I thought it was early onset dementia. Dr. Appleby was so thorough in diagnosing me. I was scared and worried, and he was so patient. He researched, talked with colleagues and made a plan. Tests later, found I had Subclavian Steal Syndrome which was causing my dementia. Immediately had surgery and am dementia free. I trust him!

Not a good experience. Poor interpersonal skills. Unwillingness to explain findings and recommendations to patient.

Dr. Appleby has a condescending, unempathetic tone towards his patients and from what I have witnessed, his colleagues. His clinical knowledge may be good, but his narcissism and subpar bedside manner get in the way of building that important doctor-patient relationship based on trust which is so vital for the healing for those people struggling with mental illness. I don't know how he chose psychiatry, but sadly it's a poor fit.
