Love my doctor HATE the way he has done my aftercare ! I had surgery by Dr. Alford on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. I had a full 360, went in through stomach and back, with bone grafts and hardware. I am 40 years old. When discharged home from the hospital I was told to take my pain medicine 2 pills every 4-6 hours to stay on top of the pain. I was discharged that Thursday, November 4, 2021. I ran out of pain medication the following Tuesday, November 9, 2021 and called in to the doctors office to request a refill. I was told by his nurse Nicole "No, it has been a week since your surgery you should be fine by now." I had to wait until the following week for my first post op appointment to speak with someone as Nicole is the only person you can get to when calling for Dr. Alford. The first follow up I saw Julie who went above and beyond to ensure my pain medication was called into my pharmacy as I had been 6-7 days without any pain medication after a MAJOR back surgery for someone my age. When the medication was called in it was limited to 24 pills a week. By December 4, 2021 I picked up my last prescription of 4 pills from my pharmacy. I again called requesting a refill as my next doctor appointment wasn't until December 29, 2021. I once again was told no by Nicole that I didn't need pain medication as I had a muscle relaxer, which did not help as had explained prior. I went all of December in pain without anyone willing to send in a prescription for pain. Instead Nicole ignored my phone calls and refused to relay messages to Julie as requested. On my appointment December 29, 2021 I actually got to see Dr. Alford. He seemed surprised I was not on pain medication, thank you Nicole for denying the need for them, and he decided to prescribe me Gabapentin stating that could prescribe up to 6000mg a day of this medication over pain medication. Gabapentin helped with the nerve pain in my left leg but did not help my pain in my back from the surgery. My requests for something stronger than a muscle relaxer to help with sleep etc was denied and I was sent on my way being told I could start weaning myself off of my back brace and no longer needed the walker. Jump to next appointment two weeks ago beginning of March 2022. Muscle relaxer had run out and of course when called to request refills again told no by Nicole. This doctor visit met with another PA who also seemed baffled at me not being on pain medication or being given refills of the muscle relaxer. She did ensure to call in a new prescription for muscle relaxer with 3 months worth of refills to cover until my next appointment in May 2022. Was told if they were not helping as needed to call back and request some type of stronger pain medication. I had fallen this past Saturday and called for an emergency appointment to ensure that I didn't damage any of the hardware or anything in my back. Yet again asked about pain management and was told could take one and a half of my muscle relaxers and asked about the Gabapentin. Which had filled last bottle and of course when pharmacy sent in for refills guess what. . .DENIED. At one point thought had a infection in stomach incision and Nicole said was a pimple, which it was not, and that it was fine. (she observed the incision from 5 feet away) I have been treated as a drug addict when never took pain meds prior to this surgery. In my opinion this office is concerned until they receive payment from insurance company then you are left to the wolves. They seem more concerned with plaques and awards on walls not patients well being. Lack of attention to pain management has affected work and home life. I regret the whole thing! If you need surgery DO NOT use this office or choose another doctor from this office. You will get stuck with Nicole who likes to make decisions for the patients not even knowing what procedure they had done! I have been a patient of Dr Alford's for many years, since summer 2008 actually. He puts his patients first and in my opinion he is the best surgeon for the back. When I first saw him in 2006 I couldn't really walk my back injury was so bad. After 2 failed procedures a had to have a Lumbar fusion (3 levels for real) I had to have a fusion revision back on 2017 (going from a 3 le$vel to 6 with extra bone in above torg prevent hopefully another surgery), and I just saw him again last month for a new problem. I was on disability for 11 years and after the fusion revision and recovery I was able to go all back to work almost full time. Being successful in my recovery in my opinion has everything to with Dr Alford and his amazing staff. Thank you all for being the awesome people you are Doctor Alford and your staff!!! Dr. Alford is an amazing surgeon. Not only did he explain everything thoroughly but didn’t make any promises. After talking to several other surgeons, I choose him. I had spinal stenosis, DDD, herniated discs and been in pain for over 10 years. My surgery was 9/24/20. I’m still recovering but what a difference. Every week I’m getting better and people around me notice that I’m not in a bad mood and seem so much happier. So glad I took a chance. I’m 43 and had a spinal fusion. Dr. Alford and his team replaced an epilepsy vagus nerve stimulator in my body 10 years ago. It was better than the first one I had placed. I'm back in town and don't want anyone else to do the job. Will have to check my insurance.

I went to see doctor Alford after 3 years of uncontrollable pain from a Kidney procedure. Doc made sure I was aware of the the risks and options. I had a electrical spinal block implanted. Dr Alford and his team prayed with me prior to surgery. Pain is nearly completely gone except the surgical site pain. He rushed me in for the procedure in record setting time. Not sure how long I could have continued in the kind of pain I was in.....God bless you Doctor Alford....you literally saved My life!! Dr. Alford Is very thorough and even though it meant referring me to another doctor he sent me to a pain specialist who solved my back problem. He still wants to follow up with me at another appointment to see how I am doing. I would highly recommend him. A friend of mine had fusion surgery with him and it went really well.

Love Dr. Alford. He always takes his time with us and explains everything in detail. We never have had any issues with his office or staff. Thank you, Dr. Alford for everything!

Dr Alford performed extensive spinal surgery on me. He is extremely thorough, talented and listened to me when I asked questions and when I explained my symptoms. The only reason I didn't give him five stars is due to the difficultly in parking at the facility where his office is located. I have seen Dr Alford and Rodney for over 10 years. I am recovering from my last cervical fusion. He has performed 5 spinal surgeries on me. He is the best. He listens to my complaints and thoroughly explains the options before I decide that I want surgery. He listens to your needs. He’s very caring and personable. He is also my mothers surgeon as well. I highly recommend.

After neck surgery I am much worse off than before. I have additional disability and more pain.

My experience with Dr. Alford left me feeling dismissed and not worth his time. He looked at my MRI gave his recommendation and referred me to someone else. I had 3 men in a tiny room looking at me as I tried to ask questions which was not a comfortable feeling at all. I was very disappointed with the entire process. I waited over an hour and the P.A. still had to track him down to get him to see me. I did appreciate the P.A.'s time and assistance. I feel listened to and that is important to me. I do not feel rushed and appreciate the time taken to explain terminology and answer questions fully.

Caring, compassionate, methodical are words that come to mind! His office staff is top notch too! How many physicians today pray with their patients on their 1st visit & before surgery? My husband and I are existing patients, he has had complex back surgery as well. What a blessing!

Dr. Alford is an excellent spine physician! He is highly skilled, compassionate and takes the time to listen and explain things in detail. When other physicians were afraid to do my neck surgery; Dr Alford said my neck was unstable and set realistic expectations. The surgery was successful with better than expected outcomes. Dr. Alford is the best neurosurgeon in Ft Worth Tx in my opinion. He is always very caring, spends a great deal of time with me and explains everything so that I understand exactly what Is going on with my back. He is an awesome doctor and always makes me feel comfortable and never have I felt he was rushing me. I trust him completely. He has a great staff, also very caring and understanding. I highly recommend him whatever your needs may be.

Dr. Alford is a very skilled physician who never rushes to get through an examination of you or listening to what you have to say. I trust him completely to do the right thing and only do what is to my benefit.

I am feeling much better. Dr Alford and his staff are fantastic and very caring.

He answered all of my questions and was very thorough with his answers. I enjoyed the conversation.

Very competent and skilled surgeon. Good at explaining the problem and the solution.

Very satisfied with my experience. I have no complaints. My surgery went very well and I was able to return to work. The staff have all been very pleasant.

No procedure so far, but office vist has been satisfactory,.

I had two large subdural hemotomas and was totally unresponsive in December 2009. Dr Alford performed emergency surgery to drain the hematomas achieving a total recovery with minimal physical therapy afterwards. Follow up CT scans showed no further complications. Previous doctor had left me to languish in a nursing home.

All aspects were great.

Great communication with doctor and staff. He outlined options, gave pros and cons for all options and gave us time to decide on the best course of action for us. We recommend him and this practice.

Dr. Alford is exceptional! In a climate where Dr. often and sometimes deservingly get criticized for not listening to their patients and provide a quick diagnosis Dr. Alford is not in this group. He showed genuine concern for my situation and proceeded with the appropriate measures to help relieve my pain. His staff is great as well and they are on the same page. I highly recommend him for any back/spine concerns. Dr. Alford is exceptional! Dr Alford has Rodney his PA see you first & obtain a detailed medical history. Dr Alford spent time listening & reviewing past records & wasted no time in getting additional test to determine what the current situation is. He explained things in simple terms. He has come highly recommended from several of my other medical providers & was highly respected by them for his skills. His office staff failed to set up the referring facility test & pain management Dr without several follow up calls.

Dr. Alford was professional and courteous. I have some complicated spine issues of unknown origin, and am facing another procedure in a different state...however my experience with Dr. Alford and the clinic has me trying to plan on having the procedure done by him in Fort Worth. When you are facing invasive spinal procedures you want to know the doctor has excellent knowledge of the procedures and risks, and Alford was great.

I had developed disabling pain in my left leg in an L4 distribution. Had L4-5 discectomy 30 years ago for acute disc rupture. Following a traumatic injury (complete avulsion of left hamstring muscles), orthopedic care and PT didn't resolve the pain issue. Referred to Dr. Alford who expanded the W/U and diagnosed a synovial cyst where my previous surgery had occurred. Recommended conservative therapy with epidural injections. The injection completely resolved the symptoms.
