Dr. Benjamin Ling

He saved my life. I had a large mass growing on the top of my spine instead my scull, he carefully removed it and left no debilitating side effects.

Poor support staff, even if an urgent appointment is needed you will not be able to get seen. My mom went to the ER with pain and foot drop and was told by ED doc she needing to make an appointment asap. She called their office numerous times and left multiple voicemails. Over a month later she gets a phone call saying she needs another image done. Months go by while still suffering with her back giving out and then finally gets another phone call saying she needs PT before seeing Dr. Ling. The PT didn’t even want to touch her due to the extent of her back injury and just used heat. Then gets an appointment for a steroid injection???? What she has is not going to be fixed by a steroid injection. Mind you, this has been over 6 months from the ED visit. Her back then goes out again and goes to the ED and repeats the long ED wait of 2+ hrs before being seen at SHMC and then is told after MRI that her disc has now ruptured and to follow up with Dr Ling asap. Again she called and had difficulty getting ahold of his office and they said he was coming back to the office after his surgery and would call my mom back. (This was a Fri, prior to a holiday weekend) No call, she ended up calling em and they were closed. She now is back in the ED as she is in uncontrollable pain, this time at Deaconess, with shorter wait time. (This can be due to the time she came in). Though reports better attending of nursing staff and we’re able to at least get her comfortable and will see if Dr Sandquist will care to see her sooner before she has permanent nerve damage. All I can say is we are beyond DISAPPOINTED. Want to add I have heard Dr. Ling is a great surgeon, but getting to see him is like an act of Congress!!!! He is exceptionally warm and kind. His PA that works with him, Claudia Ramn, is equally as kind. I fully appreciate their care and concern. I would recommend them both. Dr. Ling is an excellent surgeon. He did spinal fusion and an additional surgery on my back. The healing has gone very well.

Dr Ling exhibited a level of care, professionalism, and competence that I was looking for. He alleviated my concerns and allowed me to feel comfortable with the proposed care/surgery moving forward. Post operatively, my results were textbook perfect, I had very little pain and was able to return to a better quality of life. I am grateful for Dr Ling and his level of expertise!

Dr. Ling came highly recommended to me by a family I trust whose son has been cared for by Dr. Ling since a baby when they found a brain tumor. I had a neck injury from a car accident in early 2013, along with a shoulder injury. Had the shoulder surgery first, in April of 2014. Then Dr. Ling fixed my neck, or at least the portion the insurance company would authorize! I arrived at Sacred Heart Hospital the morning of September 10, 2014 for my surgery and was severely anxious, which turned into a full blown panic attack. While I had an IV hooked up, no one was doing anything for my severe anxiety. By the time Dr. Ling arrived I was in bad shape. Not proud of how I acted, but I was scared. He took charge, ordered the anesthesiaologist to immediately give me something, scolded all of them actually for allowing me to get this way. The next thing I remember was waking up with the pain in my neck and arm gone! I have never recovered from surgery this quickly or had this good of a result ever. I will soon need more neck surgery, the part the insurance company wouldn't authorize 7 years ago and that Dr. Ling warned them I needed. I would not trust anyone to work on my neck but Dr. Ling. I doubt I will be as anxious this time either. I now know what a great doctor he is. I am grateful for his skill and dedication as a doctor. I don’t know anyone who wakes up one day and says, “I think I’ll go see a neurosurgeon.” We were fearful and uncertain when we arrived at my appointment with Dr. Ling, to discuss a middle fossa craniotomy. Doctors in the past have struggled with being unclear, disempowering and using too many obscure medical terms to refer to what is a serious condition. Upon arrival, his staff and medical team were very kind and professional. When Dr. Ling came into the room, he was clear, kind and compassionate in his communication. He presented the information in a concise way that me and my family understood and gave us all an opportunity to ask questions. He was experienced and understanding of the complexity of my surgery and responded with respect and honesty. I would recommend him to family, friend and foe alike.

Was noticing the scar on my husbands lower back tonight. Wondered if Dr. Ling was still in Spokane. Yes, indeed. We trusted Dr. Ling. He was 100% right. And 13 years later we’re so glad we trusted him. He communicated well and somehow earned our trust despite our fear and skepticism. You want this guy on your healthcare team. I'm sure Dr. Ling himself is wonderful based off the reviews I'm reading here, but the office staff needs a lot of work and left my 3 year old child with spina bifida without the care he needed for over a year and a half. I had my son's medical records transferred over including all of his imaging, and was essentially trying to establish care per our military doctor's request, however, the receptionist refused to schedule an appointment to do so without requiring another MRI even though he wasn't due to be put under anesthesia to have the procedure done for another 2 years. They then proceded to share private information about my child and his medical history with another person who had no right to the information and then created issues in a legal situation. Again, I'm sure the doctor is amazing, as he came very highly recommended in the military community, but the staff put my child at risk, shared his information with another party, and compromised a legal situation. They should be ashamed of themselves for breaking HIPPA regulations. I then left messages to talk to the office manager regarding all of this, but never received a call back, and never got to speak to the front desk again as I was continuously sent to the office managers voicemail anytime I called. Absolutely unacceptable, you should be better than this for the children and their scared parents who walk through your doors. Just by reviews alone, I have asked to see Dr. Ling. If anyone comes across this review of mine and has seen him, pls respond? I am scared to see a new Dr. They don't have the best bedside manners; I am a very timid woman. Is there anyone that can tell me more about him? TIA

This doctor was amazing! I recieved emergency surgery for a overly buldging disc the very next day. I cant explain in words how grateful I am. Nuero surgeons are busy doctors. They handle life threatening situations and take on new patients at moments notice. I wasn't expecting him to take time to actually care, but that's what he did. He truely cared about my well being. Thank you Doctor Ling for not only providing great medical care but also showing compassion for human care. I had multiple staff tell me that he was the best in Spokane and I truely believe that. I saw dr ling for severe sciatica down left leg. 9 months suffering finally using 2 canes to walk in agony. MRI cat scan steroid shots physical therapy chiropractor nerve test etc. 1.5 hour surgery later Laminectomy, discectomy surgery and pain has been gone for 2 years. Little numbness but I’m ecstatic with dr ling. Just amazing! Professional and the best nurosurgeon in SPOKANE as far as I’m concerned. He Came recommended from 2 good friends also with good outcomes.

Dr. Ling has been exceptional. From the first visit to surgery. He took a very conservative approach exhausting all options before deciding surgery was an option. After surgery, I feel so much better and have been informed of what to expect every step in the process. Thank you so much for your help.

Dr Ling is excellent. I have recommended him to many people already. I can't say enough good things about him. I spoke to other patients as well as my nurses and we all agreed he is the BEST! I am blessed to be in his care.

I cracked my skull open and had a blood clot on my brain. He got me right to surgery and did a remarkable job I highly recommend him.

My daughter had a very rare tumor at 5 months old Spokane had never seen before. Dr. Ling preformed the surgery with skill and precision and 9 years later my daughter is doing amazing. Thank you Dr Ling and his very nice PA.

Dr Ling has been my neurosurgeon for approx 10 yrs. I have had 3 surgeries with him that have been very successful. My husband and I feel that you are always treated thoughtfully, with compassion, kindness, and expertise. His team at Providence works well together, answering your questions quickly and respectfully. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend a friend or loved one to see Dr Ling.

Dr. Ling has been a wonderful Doctor, his staff and himself have been very thorough and very nice and have made sure I understand the whole process. They check in with me almost everyday that has made me feel so much better about the surgery. I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Ling and Inland Neurosurgery. I am very pleased. I was very scared about having the surgery but they made me feel very comfortable and informed.

Dr. Ling is the Neurosurgeon that I wanted to do my back fusion. I had heard from previous patients what a wonderful Neurosurgeon he was. I wanted the Best Neurosurgeon and he was amazing! I like that everything was very organized giving me lots of information prior to the surgery and his Team have all been outstanding too! I would highly recommend Dr. Ling. Thank You!

He corrected our son's craniosinostosis and was very easy to work with. He explained everything regarding our son's procedure and didn't pressure us into anything. He even suggested who we might consider seeing in Seattle for a second opinion. He was very compassionate with us through this terrifying process. The follow up visits have been easy to schedule and are offered either downtown or at his Valley clinic. Our son's recovery went very well and his scar is virtually invisible now that his hair has grown out. Dr. Ling used a zig zag incision to ensure that his hair wouldn't fold over at the scar. The anesthesiologist commented at how little blood loss Dr. Ling manages in these procedures. Our baby boy is happy and healthy. Very thorough and patient during initial consultation. Clear instructions for proper healing after procedure. Dr. Ling did an excellent job and the surgery has been a huge success almost a year later!

I had back surgery last year and then moved to Spokane. I reherniated around the same time we found out we were expecting our first child. The staff at Inland Neurosurgery were all very nice and worked to get me in fast. Dr. Ling was very nice, and treated me like a person not just a patient. He is an excellent surgeon. Words can't express my gratitude for the quality of care that I received.

Down to earth. Great amount of empathy while working with my 15 yr old. Smiles and jokes where appropriate.
