Dr. Ben D Phillips

Extremely brief. There was no palpating of my thyroid.. no questions about how I felt. Simply renewed Synthroid electronically and sent me to his office lab. I waited afterwards for a short moment to talk to him and he told me I could leave. Last saw him one year ago.

Dr Phillips sees my husband for his Hyperparathyroidism as well as his diabetes. Dr Phillips is a compassionate, caring and extremely knowledgable physician, and is constantly reading as he always tells us about the latest studies in his specialty. He is truely the best in his field, and we feel very fortunate to have him as our endocrinologist!

he's a great doctor who really cares

Support staff unable to communicate properly with health insurance company. There appears to be no accountability or supervision of nurse/support personnel. No way to facilitate communication for special authorization between this office and health insurer. Health insurer says they have not received special authorization, but support staff says it has been faxed.

Dr. Phillips is a wonderful doctor. He listens very well and works hard to meet your needs. His nursing staff is also very helpful. However, his patient portal rarely works correctly and the phone stays so busy it takes to long to get anyone to answer beyond a computer. He needs to either tell is computer service to get their act together or find another service.

Dr. Phillips has been treating my diabetic condition for a number of years and has been instrumental in keeping my diabetes under control. He is a rare combination of compassion, empathy, and consummate professionalism. Somehow, despite the demands of his practice, he manages to keep abreast of advances in treatment and pharmaceuticals. He always take time to talk with me, discuss my condition and answer my questions. I thank God for him!

Dr. Phillips is a good doctor. However Virginia Edocrinology as an organization is a mess. The business office is completely unresponsive and incompetent. No one answers the phone and when you leave a message you will be lucky you get a return phone call. They have messed up my insurance submittals numerous times by submitting claims to old insurance companies. I just updated them for the third time with my new insurance after they submitted to the WRONG insurance company again. They also take months to process paperwork. What a mess. Doctors of the practice: whoever is managing your back office needs to be replaced with someone who knows what they are doing. You must be losing your shirt and you cash flow must be horrible.

Dr. Phillips has been my internal medical physician for the past several years. The staff is great from the time you enter the office until the time that you leave. Very efficient and there is never a long wait for any service being provided(check-in, lab services, follow up, etc.). I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting room which is unheard of in the medical profession. Dr. Phillips takes the time to understand your concerns and leaves no stone unturned during the consultation/examination. I can honestly say that Dr. Phillips has exceeded my expectations as a physician. He is a great listener and makes me as a patient feel cared for. He is also conscientious and very well informed. He seems to be current if not ahead on the medical information today and I always learn something new in my visits with him. He is organized, professional and thorough. I could not recommend him more highly.

Dr Phillips is by far the best endocrinologist I know, and as a nurse, I know many! He is always on time, very pleasant and professional, and constantly keeps up to date on studies and new medications related to his field. We can not recommend him enough to all our family and friends who are diabetic, have thyroid/or endocrine issues.

Dr Phillips is a very understanding doctor with a lot of clinical experience behind him. He is ALWAYS fast with wait room times under 10 mins, with 5 mins closer to the norm. He is good at listening and patient, but efficient and knowledgeable. But all of this means don't expect to just walk in... his schedule is very full and he is a very in demand doctor. I moved 40 mins away, but make the drive because I can't imagine anyone else taking care of my diabetes. HIGHLY recommended.

Dr. Phillips is one of the most caring and proficient doctors that I have ever known. His bedside manner. Is second to none. His recommendations are dead on. He really cares about the patient. He is very likable. He is just a very, very good doctor. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Phillips did not ask or listen when I explained my symptoms. He seemed to have decided I must have sleep apnea before he even saw me as all of his questions were related to this problem. He did not discuss or address my increased cholesterol and blood pressure issues. I did not feel that he addressed my most pressing medical issues.
