Dr.Elizondo is a friendly, patient and professional physician. My son in generally terrified of any doctor visit but, will allow Dr.Elizondo to examine him without any tears. He’ll spend a few minutes interacting my son and familiarizing himself with him to make him comfortable. His front desk staff always takes us in right away and they always have warm smiles for my son and I. The environment is calm and puts any nerves at ease. I don't know if the previous 11 reviews are written by single moms or Dr. Elizondo himself because my experience with my daughter at Methodist Children's Hospital sucked! From ALMOST ALL STAFF TO INCLUDE DR. ELIZONDO! The only doctor that was good, actually GREAT, was Dr. C. Brigman who was also an on-call doctor for my daughter and 2 nurses in the ER. Dr. Elizondo didn't request for all of my daughter's tests that were suggested by her normal Pediatric Gastro doctor, and then he discharged her when I told him (as well as every nurse that walked in after) NOT to! My daughter had been vomiting for weeks! She couldn't even eat an ice cube without vomiting. Due to Dr. Elizondo's lack of care, he disregarded many recent tests and lab results that I brought up to the hospital from my daughter's other doctor to show. It was suggested that she have 2 nuclear tests done, which should have been done while in the hospital. For health reasons and age (due to radioactivity), she was discharged and had to wait 2 additional weeks to do the second nuclear test, since they didn't do them at the same time. It ends up, the second nuclear test was what was needed to diagnose her properly with a very severe diagnosis! The day she was discharged, they didn't feed her, so when we left around 3 P.M., we had to give her lunch. This caused her to immediately start feeling ill, and I had to call the Dr's office again. Dr. Elizondo happened to be the one on-call. I had to call twice to the office and wait for over an hour for him to call me back while my daughter was in severe pain and vomiting again!!! He deserves 0 stars, license to be revoked, and to be put through the same agony my daughter went through, so maybe he will know what it feels like, and give future patients better care. Dr Elizondo is very kind as is his staff. Unfortunately the compliments end there. First off, you cannot speak directly to anyone in the office. You have to leave a message and hope they call you back. Second, we saw Dr Elizondo over a period of 4-months and got little from it outside of an antacid prescription for our daughter’s stomach problems. Due to an initial error, I incorrectly produced the wrong insurance information when our family’s provider had changed, our insurance would not cover our visits. On the plus side of this, we changed doctors and I watched our new doctor perform the same examination but get drastically better results both acutely and in the weeks to follow. Our daughter was finally getting better. We initially disputed the insurance not being covered with our carrier, as we were directed to Dr Elizondo’s office initially based on his office being on a list of doctors covered under our plan, but this was denied. Since then I have been calling and leaving messages for 3-weeks now as the online bill pay company his office uses will not actually allow us to pay our bill through them. They told us there were instructions for us to pay through the office, who, again, does not return our phone calls. Wish I had more positive things to say as our interactions with Dr Elizondo were always nice, he really is a good man, it’s just that nothing actually got done and our daughter did not have any relief until we changed doctors. Absolutely saved my son's life. He is the best!

Dr. Ben Elizondo has been seeing my daughter for years and is absolutely amazing.

*Update from a previous post* - After some miscommunication, Dr. Elizondo reached out to me personally to clarify some direction to address my daughter's chronic constipation. I appreciated his willingness to ensure we felt good about the direction we were given and the progress that my daughter has made so far.

We absolutely love Dr Elizondo and his office! Scheduling is convenient and easy, the office is peaceful and clean, all staff is friendly and our daughter responds so well to Dr Elizondo! He is thorough, kind and takes his time explaining. We have always had pleasant experiences at his office and would highly recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Elizondo responded to my call on a weekend and met us up at his office on a Saturday when our daughter's health suddenly reached a crisis point. That was his first time to see her (brand new patient). He was able to diagnose her and had her admitted to the hospital in less than 48 hours. In that and all her subsequent hospitalizations, Dr. Elizondo visited every single day without fail. Over the past four years, he has managed her illness and her medications with great care and compassion, paying close attention not only to her symptoms and lab results, but equally to her quality of life and her outlook. He is an extraordinary physician, always on top of the latest in the pediatric GI world, always engaging and listening to his patients and their parents, and always available for urgent questions and emergencies. He has on numerous occasions successfully intervened when our insurance dropped a crucial med from its formulary. We are so blessed to have had our daughter's health in Dr. Elizondo's most capable hands. We highly recommend Dr. Elizondo. Our son Luke had stomach issues out of the blue and Dr. Elizondo took him in quickly when he started to lose weight (he was recommended by another parent at our school). He helped our son get better with genuine concern for his overall health. Future patients will be impressed with his knowledge and experience, as well as his caring demeanor. Dr. Elizondo is a very excellent doctor. He know how to explain the diagnose on the patients and how the medicine works on them.

Dr. Elizondo is not only extremely knowledgeable, but he truly cares about his patients and treats them as if they were his own. He is very easy to talk to n answers any questions. We have complete faith n trust in him n feel very blessed that we found him for our dtr. He really is an an all around awesome doctor.

Dr. Elizondo is a wonderful and caring Doctor. He has an amazing bedside manner. My grandson has suffered many months of pain and severe digestive issues. He has been seen numerous times by others and dismissed without a diagnosis other than a virus.So grateful and would recommend him 100%.

My daughter and I had a great experience in Dr. Ben J. Elizondo's office. As a mother I was concerned about my daughter's digestive system and had already been to our family doctor. Dr. Elizondo was very thorough and answered all my questions. I called him with concerns after hours, and always received a phone call back quickly. I actually traveled over 2 hours to make our appointments very well worth it. The office was very pleasant and always greeted with a smile! I felt my daughter was taken care of like family. My daughter was Dr. Elizondo’s patient since she was 3. She was his patient for 15 years. She was always very scared when little but he always made her feel special and relaxed. He took time with her and treated her as his own. She grew up with a lot of medical conditions and he was her favorite doctor. He would let her look around in the endoscopy room and tell her what everything was. He is the most wonderful doctor ever! He is kind and will do what is needed for his patients. Very dedicated.

After going from doctor to doctor, I was very happy to find Dr. Elizondo. He not only made my son feel comfortable, but made the process of diagnosing him very smooth and easy. He was also able to do just that, give me a diagnosis. His professionalism and bedside manner is very much appreciated.

Dr. Elizondo took a personal interest in my daughter and spend his own personal time to make sure we received an accurate diagnosis while keeping patient care a priority. He left his son's sports game on a Saturday to come see my daughter in the hospital when he became concerned about the informaiton he was receiving by phone. He is very thorough, takes appropriate time to explain all necessary details, and has such a pleasant and reasurring manner. He provided excellent care and diagnosis.

I was referred to Dr. Elizondo for my daughters condition a little over a year ago. He is absolutely by far the best doctor I have ever met! I have been asked several times by my insurance company to look for another doctor being that he is out of our network and I refuse. I will continue to pay the difference because of his professionalism and positive attitude. He has made my daughter feel so comfortable and has the best bedside manor anyone could ask for!

Very professional. Great bedside manor. Appts are always on time. He genuinely cares about helping!

Thankful we found a good pediatric GI doctor who could see our son within two weeks! We have to drive to SA from New Braunfels, but it was worth seeing him. Our son is feeling better and he figured out quickly what was wrong. We have a lot of confidence in Dr. Elizondo.
