He was absolutely incredible I never had any doctor who treated me so well before. He saved my shoulder. I highly recommend him to anyone who has shoulder problem.

Such an amazing abs caring surgeon. I followed him from Mayo to Harvard because he is the best and I don’t trust anyone more than him

Dr Elhassan gave me so much quality of life back. I had a latarjet that the bone reabsorbed and my shoulder began dislocating again and was miserable. I had been told to do nothing or to fuse the joint, which I didn't want to do in my early 30s. He was the first surgeon to offer a reconstruction and I am glad I did, my shoulder is stable and my pain is greatly decreased. I can finally use that arm and sleep thru the night. He is compassionate and loves what he does and it shows. I can never repay what he gave back to me.

Dr Elhassan was the best Dr I ever had!! He did a great job repairing all the damage in my elbows. And he really cares about his patients

Dr. Elhassan is simply the best surgeon or doctor I have ever met in my life. His patience with my unending questions about my shoulder over the past 10+ years has been nothing short of amazing. His surgery ten years ago gave me excellent pain relief. When I eventually need the total reverse shoulder replacement I'll likely follow him wherever he happens to be working to ensure he does my surgery. An exemplary surgeon and human being.

Dr Elhassan is the best! He saved my sons arm and recently did my husbands shoulder surgery:)

Dr. Elhassan is a world class surgeon...,.brilliant, personable and compassionate. I have already recommended him to five people. Mayo is fortunate to have Dr. Elhassan.

The greatest surgeon I have ever met, his skills are unmatched by any other. Very lucky to have met him.

He is so patient and so kind. He really cares and it shows how much he does for his patients.

He’s obviously very rich by the way he dresses. So that’s tough because he doesn’t understand that patients can’t always keep returning for followups.

Don’t let his fashion sense rivaling Elton John fool you. He has a rare intellect, professional demeanor, and comprehension of patient’s needs.

Very gifted and creative doctor! I have a brachial plexus injury from a motor vehicle accident from when i was 3 years old and have had nerve transfers in the past. When I came to the Mayo clinic to seek help because my triceps in the left arm had atrophied. Out of all the doctors that I saw at the Mayo Clinic Dr. Elhassan was the only one who could help. Dr. Elhassan performed and amazing surgery! He took my right collateral trapezius and transferred it to my left triceps. The surgery lasted around nine hours and I was immobilized in a brace for 12 weeks. About 12 week after surgery, when I had my surgical brace removed, I could extend my left arm! I have been his patient for a little more than a year now and I have had another surgery with Dr. Elhassan because my arm was stuck in supination and could not achieve pronation. The surgery put my forearm in a neutral position so that I would have more use of my forearm. The surgery also involved my wrist being stabilized to keep it from flopping. Always well dressed and smelling fresh, Dr. Elhassan is a very pleasant gentleman with a fabulous bedside manner. More importantly, he is an incredibly skilled surgeon using the latest data and methods. I cannot recommend him enough for your upper extremity surgical needs!

No amount of words can describe Dr. Elhassan's level of competence and compassion. He is the absolute best regarding muscles, nerves and structure from the neck down through the shoulder and arm. For me, he and the great Orthopedics team at the Mayo Clinic salvaged a once paralyzed arm from Army service, moved a few nerves & muscles around, and got things to functionally improve. Dr. Elhassan changed my life completely! I am so grateful and blessed to have had him as my surgeon. He was there to field any questions any time in the day or evening. I will never let anyone touch my shoulder. Besides being a skilled physician, he is a kind and caring person with the very best bedside manner. After literally putting my shoulder back together, I no longer require any pain medication (not even over the counter stuff) that I required tons of preoperatively to manage my debilitating nerve pain. It has been almost 5 years since my surgery and I can live and manage my active lifestyle because of his amazing skills. Genuine with empathy. Superb competence & compassion. Absolute best with muscles, nerves & structure from the neck down through shoulder and arm. For me, he & great Orthopedics team at the Mayo Clinic salvaged my paralyzed arm from significant brachial plexus injury at c-spine C5, C6 roots in Army service, moved several nerves & muscles around, and improved function dramatically. Out-of-box solutions! When other doctors tell you that you have little or no hope, you must seek Dr. Elhassan.

I have had two procedures with Dr. El Hassan. The first was two years ago when I had a complex fracture in my right wrist. The second was this week when I had hardware removed( I put it off) Dr. El Hassan is the most gifted, intelligent physician I have ever had the privilege of caring for me. Perhaps as importantly, he is kind, caring, and has a fantastic sense of humour. Both times, I was nervous, and scared, but Dr. El Hassan immediately put me at ease. I give Dr. El Hassan my highest endorsement for hand, wrist, and shoulder concerns. After four failed surgeries on my left shoulder I was given the recommendation to see Dr. Elhassan. Let me tell you that was the best recommendation I ever got. He is a first class surgeon. I highly recommend him. His bed side manner is excellent.

Dr Elhassan eased my daughter's fears of her imminent shoulder surgery. He has a kind way about him. He explained the procedure to me and then explained it in language my 12-year-old could understand.

Dr. Elhassan changed the quality of life for me. The time, care, and compassion he has is impeccable. His bed side manner is awesome. If you have any orthopedic surgery where this man is an option you would be wise to pick him. I can heap enough compliments on this man.

Dr Elhassan is blessed with a mind and hands which I believe are guided by a higher power. He cheerfully engages with his patients, explains what is causing the pain/anomaly, and how the procedure will be performed - in layman's terms. His insatiable appetite for knowledge and teaching is unsurpassed in the medical community. His matching orange glasses, tie, and shoes happen to be my favorite - but the purple ones aren't bad either.
