Ayman Koteish

I have been seeing Dr Koteish for years and he is very detailed, makes sure you understand, does everything possible to keep you healthy. He is the best of the best. Will answer every question, never feel rushed.

Dr. Koteish and his team at Advent saved my life. If you need a liver transplant, he's the kind of doctor you want.

This guy (and Dr. Roman) literally saved my father's life. The ICU, surgeon, and hospitalist were all convinced it was probably cancer and we should move to hospice because of his struggles. We'd been at Advent Orlando for 6 weeks before pressing ICU for another opinion which got hepatology involved. They looked at the numbers and evolution and determined the failure of bilirubin to decrease was because of infection by damage from the biliary drain (an artery had been cut, which was fixed, but infection remained), and that the other issues all were related to that. Sure enough it did improve over time. And got him started on ursodiol. Had he gone to hospice, his potassium would've not been kept up, and he'd have died. CIE on the other hand earn poorer marks for not staying with the case and being impossible to get input from (plus not following up on my suggestions to get long lacked feeding started, and doing the biliary drain done despite decreasing bilirubin), though the stents seem to have done the job at least. But Drs. Koteish and Roman are my heroes and gave me more time with my dad. Thanks firstmost to God, the Lord kept us fighting when we were ready to give up, and brought us these great doctors... but much praise to them for doing a superb job, and literally saving my dad's life when he had something curable. If you're dealing with a complex case for your loved one, don't settle. Get involved, get the numbers, get a definitive answer (not "well it seems" or "the most likely possibility") And get the liver team, Drs. Koteish and Roman and friends... on the case if it's related to biliary in any way. As to Dr. Koteish specifically, he's got a unique personality. He does well at trying to find analogies to help explain things for people who don't understand. Being pretty scientifically oriented, I can say a few of them wound up being more confusing than helpful to me personally... but I think a large cross section of people would really benefit from the unique and meaningful ways he works at explaining things and they'd help people better understand what's going on. I was very very impressed. Dr Koteish has a fantastic bedside manner and a great “sense of humor”. I would recommend their team to anyone !

This doctor knows his stuff! I went in with stage four NAFLD worried I was on death’s door. Dr. Koteish examined my records from referring doctor thoroughly, asking pertinent questions as needed. He was very down-to-earth and explained everything with Easy to understand analogies. For example, he said to think of my liver as a person. He then told me my liver was poor, but it wasn’t bankrupt meaning there was no current indication of needing a transplant at that time. He explained in detail everything I needed to know as well as how the disease would progress. He advised me on what I should, eat, do, etc. He ordered a few tests. I highly recommend Dr. Koteish.

He is extremely knowledge about all liver issues. Very thorough.straight forward. Iman Patel, his nurse is also wonderful. My husband has been treated there for 11 years.

Very Debby Downer, thinks he knows everything even abt a procedure he had nothing to do with... Once my husband ceased to be a candidate---ignored. Sent him home with high bilirubin and wanted to send him home with infections...one you can only get in a hospital. We got another hepatologist and got out of the Advent Health system.

I was in the hospital for over 60 days. Dr. Koteish was one of my many doctors.. Out of all the doctors he is the one I remember so well. He explained my options to me, did not sugar coat anything, some things were so direct that I felt bad but on that note when I told him that he quickly explained why he was saying that. I almost died in that hospital (he was NOT my surgeon) and he is solely responsible for the decisions I made after I got home. I highly recommend him and staff.

Dr. Kotiesh is a brilliant physician with exceptional bed side manners. My medical problems have been a bit complicated and he has been there to ease my worries and provide me with amazing care. Highly recommend.
