Aubrey Joy review My husband and I took our daughter to Aubrey for some counseling. She had just turned 10 and was a happy go lucky child. She turned 360 overnight and we have sat down and done interventions and talks. So we thought she needed professional help. She started her menses right before turning 10. I’m sure that is one of the factors. The sessions are 50 mins. We told Aubrey what was happening and she said she could help. We brought her to 3 sessions. The first session she talked all of us, then by themselves. She came out ok. The second session my daughter told her she doesn’t like hugging. She’s always been a very friendly and loving person and all of sudden, hugs are out. She told my daughter this”well you’re just not a huggie type of person and that’s ok. You are your own person. There are 5 different types of love. “ She even told her one day you could have a Hi five day that is exactly what she did to me, gave me a high five. That is Unacceptable. I was starting to think she’s not there to help us, but to turn our daughter against us. Our 3rd session, my daughter came out of the session very distraught and being strange & weird again. When I asked her what she talked about, she said it was a secret. Well she eventually told me and here’s what she told my daughter. “You’re Mom is immature and that you are not her doll for her to hug and kiss whenever. . “ She also told her that she had 2 choices, fight with your parents for the rest of your life or pretend to be happy. We don’t know what else was being said to her. What type of child Pychologist would say that to a child is beyond me. Needless to say, we never brought her back even though she had 4 sessions left. We never once received a phone call or an email to see what happened. Either she does not care or perhaps she knows she crossed the line. She never even tried to get to know us or my daughter well enough to make a judgment call. Next time, I will have to do some extensive research before bringing my daughter to see anyone. Just because someone has a Pychologist degree does not mean they are capable of counseling. We regret taking her there because she got worse after those 3 sessions. We are working with our daughter on our own and reading books on trying to help her cope with her tween years. Though the quarantine did not help, I am hopeful she will overcome it. Since we started working with her, we’ve had breakthroughs. There was a friend who was a bad influence. Once we removed her, things got much better. Aubrey goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is really easy to talk to, smart, and great at what she does. She checks her messages and emails very frequently. I highly recommend Aubrey.
