I would leave a zero if it was allowed. I am lucky that it is not necessary for me to have a bypass. I have had nothing but trouble with his office since me first visit. I was not called about scheduling tests, until I called them. So from August until November no tests were scheduled. When the surgery was finally scheduled I got sick 5 days before and called to find out what to do. Nothing. They never returned any of the calls I made. I then finally just called to tell them I was cancelling the surgery. At least that way I could take some medicine. Today is now 3 weeks after the scheduled surgery and I have never heard from them. I am just extremely lucky that my surgery wasn't urgent. But I will not be using his office again. And would urge others to do the same.

Fantastic

When my CT Dye Scan results came back that I had 90% blockage in my LAD (widow maker), My Cardiologist recommended I see a minimal invasive bypass surgeon Dr. Ashok N. Babu. Dr. Babu met me right away and recommended that I have Robotically-assisted Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery for my LAD which we did research on and agreed to have it done. He was able to get me scheduled to have for surgery a few days later which only took him 2 hours to do. He is a Brilliant surgeon who is very proficient at using the robotic arms which require no cutting the sternum open. Instead the procedure uses the tiny robotic arms thru the ribs just under the left nipple. I am so happy we decided to go with the Robotically-assisted Minimally Invasive Bypass Surgery. I only have 3 tiny scars and the recovery way faster then the traditional heart bypass surgery. I was only in the hospital for only 3 days and was on the Treadmill on day 4 walking 2 1/2 miles and now it has been 2 1/2 months and I am back to working out with weights 3-4 times a week and jogging 3 miles a day for at least 5 days a week. I had a heart transplant performed by Dr Babu and his team on September 10, 2020. He was incredible. Compassionate and explained everything so very well. The team in the heart transplant/VAD clinic are amazing and I’m so very thankful to be at a hospital where they get to KNOW their patients.

August 16th 2016 5 years ago today Dr Ashok N Babu performed Open Heart Surgery on me and I am happy to say I'm very grateful for him and everyone at St Thomas West for taking such good care of me. From what I was told I wasn't the most pleasant patient during my stay. Unfortunately the next 2 1/2 years following surgery were not so good to me. I got to where I couldn't lift my leg up to wash my foot, I had gained weight and my eating habits only got worse as time went on, and my energy level was at a all time low. In January 2019 I decided to make a change in my lifestyle and I'm happy to say I've lost several pounds, dropped 4 pant sizes and made better choices in my eating habits. My blood pressure and vitals are all where they should be and I continue to exercise weekly. Thank you St Thomas West and Dr Babu! without you and your team I never would have made it through this tough time in my life and because of you I hope to continue on the path to a better healthy life. I like Dr. Babu. Very friendly. He told me facts that I didn't know from some of the other Doctors I have seen. He told me I Couldn't have the Watchman surgery and made sure I understood why. I was disdspointed but I understand why .

Dr. Babu is literally a life saver.

This man is amazing. He began open heart surgery on my father around 8:30 am where he did a 5 bypass procedure. While in the ICU he noticed that my father was bleeding a little more than he like and spend the next three hours checking on him and trying to stop the bleeding with meds. When that didn’t work he took him back to surgery at 8:45 that evening to find and repair the bleed. He basically spent the entire day taking care of my dad. We couldn’t have asked for more from him. Dr. Babu is a wonderful surgeon. I arrived in the ER with chest discomfort and ended up having a valve-sparing aortic root rebuild surgery. Dr. Babu was extremely informative and explained every step of the operation to me and my family. He made sure that we knew what to expect and coordinated with other physicians to come up with the post-op aftercare and recovery plan. I am extremely grateful and there are no words that would truly express our gratitude. Dr. Babu is a wonderful surgeon. My 57 son had 5 bypass perform by Dr. Babu. Dr Babu explained everything to myself and my son who is mentally challenged (mentally of 14 years). He was very kind to us. My son lack some of the conditions before discharged so I was surprised when I received a call my son was being discharged. I happen to have Dr Babu phone number when he had called me. I call him not knowing he was on the lake. I told him what the PA said. He told me I'll take care that NOW. Within 5 minutes I received a call from nurse saying Dr Babu wanted son to stay until he sees him Monday. I have only high praises for Dr Babu. I highly recommend him. God bless him. My husband had 5 bypasses and 3 main arteries were 90% blocked. We were so pleased to read about Dr. Babu online before my husbands surgery! Great man and had a very friendly bedside manor. His PA was a great lady and we were over joyed with his skills and knowledge he told us before surgery. Praise be to God and all who assisted in his surgery! Dec. 7, 2020 . This man saved my son’s life

Doctor Babu saved my husband's life. He received a heart transplant on December 29th 2019. Dr. Babu is an amazing surgeon as well as a wonderful person.

I was extremely nervous about having bypass surgery, but once I met Dr Babu I became completely calm about it. On August 8th he performed a 5 bypass surgery on me. The whole team has been very helpful and informative to my family and me. I couldn't have ever dreamed the recovery would have gone this well. My grandchildren and I want to shout a special thank you to Dr Babu for adding years to my life. Dr. Babu was knowledgeable and incredibly skillful in performing a complex bypass procedure. Pre/post surgery, Dr. Babu was informative, compassionate and willing to take the time to listen to concerns and answer questions. Our family was pleased beyond our expectations.

Dr. Babu saved my life from an emergency aortic aneurysm! He not only worked magic in the operating room, but handled my recovery with compassion and technical knowledge month following. He is respected by every nurse and medical professional that I speak too.

Thank you for being my surgeon and the excellent care you gave while I was in St. Thomas.

Very pleased with Dr. Babu's care! He is so dedicated and cares so much about his patients care. He checks up on you continuously after surgery and makes you feel so special. I would highly and defiantly recommend Dr. Babu to everyone who needs help in this field. I can never thank him enough for all he has done and how much he cares. He is truly one of a kind surgeon!

Extraordinary care and vested interest in my recovery after surgery, visited every day while in SICU and periodically during my whole stay. Dr. Babu has a calm demeanor and is highly knowledgeable in his field, but will listen to residents and staff with respect and is open to seeking outside opinions on matters that were unusual to seek the best course of care.
