Asha N. Vijayakumar

I have chronic health issues and have seen MANY doctors in my life but Dr. Vijayakumar is, by far, the absolute worst doctor I have ever had. She refuses to listen to all of my symptoms, laughed at me for asking her how to address my long list of symptoms with her (since appointments are only 15 minutes long), completely ignored some of the symptoms I have told her about, doesn’t take time to read my chart, forgets things a lot, doesn’t seem to care about patients on Medicaid, and employs front desk staff who aren’t taking masking seriously (I’m high risk for COVID and deserve to be protected at my doctors office. WORST DOCTOR EVER.

She is an excellent physician .I am very satisfied with her care .Promptly calls me with lab results and responds quickly to my calls ..

One of the best DOCTOR in the country SHE is my primary care physician and I would never change her SHE is perfect

She does not listen to the patient. I'm 66 years old and I've never felt more shunned off. I felt like I was being bullied on our call today. I take very good care of myself, honor my body and know my body. I'm intune with exactly how I'm feeling. However when you try to explain, she talks over you and dismisses or doesn't care what you're saying, probably can't hear what your saying. Apparently she doesn’t think I know myself or my body. Which I treat as a temple. I leave visits and phone calls anxious and frustrated. I am visiting a new doctor in February and received a call today from Ahsa Vijayakumar questioning me why. I again tried to explain that she does not listen at all. However I couldn't convey that message because she was yelling and talking over me through the whole call. Still wanting me to come in to her office. This doctor does not listen to you PERIOD. She talks over you and just creates more stress when you’re already not feeling well. I cannot recommend this doctor. When visiting a doctor the patient should feel comfortable talking and sharing knowing her physician is listening and caring about what you have to say. Not rushed in and out and spoken over.

I’ve never met a Doctor Who does not listen to the patient until this doctor. She is willing to leave you in any kind of pain because apparently she doesn’t feel the patient knows themselves or their bodies. Talking with the doctor should be comforting and this is anything but. This doctor does not listen to you talks over you and just creates more stress when you’re already not feeling well. In my 62 years of living, I’ve never experienced anything like this relationship. I would not recommend this doctor.

As a first time patient of Dr.Vijayakumar,I can feel her concern her compassion to her patients,very easy to talk to. She listens and address the problem right away.

Dr. Vijayakumar has been my GP for some years now. I have never failed to find her competence and personal style lacking in professionalism. I trust in her analysis, conclusions and treatment. Two years ago I retired and moved to Arizona. I value her competence to such a degree that I continue to travel to Chicago specifically for her care and advice.

Dr Asha is amazing and kind! she is really concerned about my health. I got all the information needed, would definitely recommend her. She is very sweet and friendly. Always follow up on all the medical Tests. Me and my husband are very happy with her. Thank you Dr. Ashaji for taking care of our health.

She was very dismissive. I struggled to get a word in edge wise. She made me feel like a huge inconvenience. If you want to know what it feels like to be her patient imagine you just rear ended a car in traffic- then have that person be your physician. She called me the next day after hours about my blood work which I thought was great because getting results asap is a good thing. Sadly it felt like she just really wanted to go home. She ran though the results with the speed of a McDonald's worker reviewing a lunch order at the drive through. I had to really press her to get her to explain any of the results. The call concluded with her saying "this is the next test I'm ordering, ok?" Before I could respond she hung up. Bottom line she really needs to work on her bed side manor. She was very dismissive. Absolutely the best doctor I have ever seen. I had to get an echocardiogram done and as soon as the results came back, Doctor gave me a call and went through all the measures i have to take. Dr Asha always takes time to listen to my concerns and also gives adequate care.

Just recently I visited Dr. Asha Vijaykumar for normal office visit. Dr. Asha has been always very cheerful and spend more than enough time. During this visit on July 9th, 2018 she ran EKG and next 10 minutes I was in the the Good Samaritan hospital where I was treated for heart attack. If it wasn't her professional expertise I am sure I wouldn't alive to write this review. Only I know she acted as God's messenger to save my life. I will recommend Dr. Asha to anyone. Ive been going to her for 2 years now and I honestly never had such a caring primary doctor..she has called to check if got my prescriptions (which in my experience is rare) she calls just to check how Im doing. There is no long wait, appointments are usually on time. She usually pops in to tell you she will be with you if appointment overlaps. She takes time to answer any questions. Her office is 20 min away from my house and there are other doctors nearer me under my insurance but I really like how she approach care. Dr. Asha Vijayakumar is my new physician and she is wonderful. She does a complete exam and shows concern about my health. I have many health issues which we discussed. She is patient and kind with her patients.

Absolutely terrible doctor. She gave me the wrong dose of medicine that I took for three months before realizing she had overdosed me. Then when I called to let her know, she completely denied it being her fault and simply kept making excuses and would not let me speak at all, and hanged up on me. She says that she "cares about her patients more than other doctors" but she never listens to what you have to say and rushes up on appointments. This was the last straw; please avoid her at all costs.

She is always accommodating and shes the first doctor that called to check if everything was okay.

One of the most caring doctor for internal medicine. I had undergone a heart surgery for mitral valve replacement. The lower portion of my incision in the chest ribs got infected. I went to see Dr. Asha Vijayakumar. She immediately put me on antibiotic and called my heart surgeon’s nurse and informed about the infection. I got the appointment same afternoon with the heart surgeon. I was admittted the next day in the hospital and the surgeon removed the abscess. Thanks to her for quick action.

Dr. Vijayakumar is caring and helpful. She knoes how to calm the patients down and goes above and beyond the patient. Ususaly I never have to wait for apointment.
