Please be very diligent going to this man he is extremely pushy about his wants and does not take yours into consideration. If he can't take the amount of teeth out that he wants then he won't touch them at all. I myself work in a medical office and I find this man and his staff extremely disturbing when they push the patients to do things they don't want to do and make threats that they won't do it "unless" you do it their way. This is extremely unprofessional and this practice needs to be investigated. I came to do a consultation for wisdom teeth and they refused to allow my service dog in the office only in the waiting room. I was in the waiting room before they told this and then when I got back they said they would have to sanitize because of my service dog.

Great experience on Monday. Had one tooth extracted and the process was about as painless as you could hope for and they are SO fast! Very friendly and professional staff and doctor. Yes I would recommend to anyone who needs oral surgery in Muncie.

Way overpriced! Was never told up front how much it was going to be and then they charged $300 to have a small tooth pulled! Never again!!!!

Avoid this guy like the plague! Ended up in the ER after an extraction and was given Dilaudid for pain. He scolded me for going to the hospital. I’ve never seen such behavior from a doctor. I will remember his name for the rest of my life as the worst medical experience of my life.

While he did an excellent job removing my son’s wisdom teeth, Dr. Hornaday was very condescending when he spoke to me. His staff is friendly and thoughtful though, which made up for it.

Got all four of my wisdom teeth out and I was scared beyond belief and they reassured me that I'd be okay and it was. I didn't want to be put under and that's why I pick them in the first place and it was the right choice. I haven't had a surgery before and I am not good with pain at all but they were quick and each time I told them I was in pain they gave me more anesthetic, no questions. I had 6 extractions done and was in ZERO discomfort during the process. I am currently laying here, 9+ hours later, I am still pain-free and haven’t taken 1 pain pill/ibuprofen; I am in total shock! I had a wonderful experience. The entire Hornaday staff - 5 stars. Extremely satisfied.

We had a pleasant experience at Hornaday's office. The receptionists and nurses were very warm and welcoming to my daughter an me. Dr. Hornaday made sure I knew exactly what he'd be doing and the procedure on my daughter was done quickly. Definitely recommend.

One of my teeth had become infected and I was in some of the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life and it needed to be removed. I had a great experience today! I have never had nitrous oxide or anything cut out. Somehow, I wasn’t super nervous. The building is very comfortable and relaxing. The employees are all super kind and caring. When I went in today, they didn’t put pressure on the fact that I was having my wisdom teeth cut out. This man is brilliant. I have severe anxiety and was very worried about getting one of my wisdom teeth extracted. The procedure was fast and painless. This man is extremely professional and also intuitive about people being nervous and uncomfortable and is good about soothing people's anxieties. I have never had such a good dental experience. I wish I could go to him for everything. I went there several years ago for the procedure, but I remember that it was the best dental experience I ever had. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed January 27, and I was extremely nervous going in. Dr. Hornaday gave me the gas, and then started numbing me and waited and made sure I was completely numb and relaxed before starting the procedure. The whole procedure was done within 25-35 minutes. I have little to no pain following the procedure, and only a little swelling! Definitely recommend for wisdom teeth extractions! One of the worst experiences I've had. He hit an exposed root and told me not to make noise. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this dentist.

Horrible. Besides not being numbed enough while cutting my gums to expose a tooth that had not descended, I was rushed out of the office with blood dripping in my hand. My mom had to specifically ask for more guaze.... it should have been obvious!

Extracted all four of my daughters wisdom teeth. We were in and out in less that 45 min. I do like that he had started her on meds the day before to help with her healing process. Nice staff as well.

Pulled 2 teeth for me yesterday, made me feel very comfortable. The procedure didn't hurt at all. Had pain after the numbing wore off but that is to be expected but overall did great work. I wouldn't let the 3.6 stars make up your mind. A lot of people only review when angry...

My son (9 years old) had to have primary molars extracted due to severe crowding. He was very nervous! Dr. Hornaday and his staff were fabulous! They took time to answer all of his questions, which were a lot! I’m sure we will need future extractions and will most definitely return!

Terribly traumatic experience. I have had a few teeth pulled before going here and never felt pain. Tried to say, or honestly rather cried out, repeatedly that I was in pain and was told to be quiet and that I was being dramatic. I will never go back there. The staff was wonderful, numbing was a breeze and the tooth extraction was SO swift. NO pain, whatsoever. The waiting room was packed, people were standing and I didn't get in until an hour after my appointment time, but I'd say it was well worth the wait.

Was very nervous about having a tooth extracted. Dr. Hornaday and his staff made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole procedure. Every step was explained thoroughly from the insurance billing ,to the procedure, and the post care. I could not have asked for a better dental experience .

This was a horrible office! From the receptionist to the person who refused to inform me of their name. I was referred there by my dentist and I left before I punched someone, yes really! I went to see my dentist! This was a horrible experience!! I actually read the paperwork and they kept insisting that I needed a new x-ray when my dentist just took one less than a week ago. They wouldn't explain why I needed their "Special" x-ray they informed my husband we'd have to go elsewhere. Because we wouldn't change our mind about their 'Special' x-ray. When my husband asked if we were being refused service they shrugged their shoulders! I finally had all my paperwork shredded, because I didn't want them to try and charge me and I wouldn't put it past them!! They will charge you for every little thing, and if he has to cancel, you're still obligated to pay HIM! what? Yes, it's in the FINE PRINT! I was present in the waiting when she and her husband were there as were several people. I would like to say that Dr. Hornaday and his receptionist were nothing but professional and tried to be helpful to her despite being yelled at. At one point her husband starting yelling and cussing at the receptionist and then Dr. Hornaday! Her and her hisbands actions were absolutely uncalled for and rude. Just went to the Doc to have two lower teeth extracted. Had some bad experiences in the past with other surgeons and caused me so much pain during the extraction process but dr Hornaday was fantastic!! When I had the smallest amount of pain he would stop and fix it. I had an amazing experience with dr hornaday!! He was so nice and talked me though everything. And was so positive! I got 2 impacted wisdom teeth pulled and 2 teeth beside them pulled !! The next day I am not in pain like I thought I would be. I got stitches so can't open mouth all the way of course. he was great! And he prescribed me pain meds that I was able to skip doses cus I'm not in that much pain! I also had a financial problem and he helped me through that. Absolutely fantastic oral surgeon. I was in horrible pain due to a decaying wisdom tooth and could not find an oral surgeon that would just put me out of my misery. My husband called his office and they agreed to pull it THAT day. I ran into a few life problems and had to ask them if I could be slightly late and the staff was very accommodating. The receptionist was very kind and although I suffer from a severe phobia of recieving dental care, I immediately felt at ease. His assisant who took my panoramic x-ray reassured me that he was fantastic and I had nothing to fear. When I got back to have the extraction not only was Dr. Hornday very kind he was also very thorough in explaining the procedure. It was an added bonus that the surgical room was aesthetically pleasing. His assistant even asked if I needed a blanket to feel more comfortable. Now, as I said I am terrified of dental work, so even after I knew without a doubt that my tooth was numb my anxiety level was still through the roof. When he started to extract my tooth I started to panic from the noise and was starting to move. Dr. Hornaday very patiently told me that I needed to sit still so I regrouped and did as he asked. I started humming in effort to ignore the noise of the extraction equipment and he said, "There you go, sing to me." Then it was over, it quite literaly took less than a minute. Dr Hornaday is NOT honest, and those other negative reviews are correct. He is sneaky about getting extra $$ from his patients (the adults). His other reviews are about the children he worked on, but he treats the adults differently, so don't believe the positive reviews. At the END of my surgery, the assistant took my hand into an x-ray room. I could not talk, as I was numb with 2x4's in my mouth. I thought I was getting an xray. I was never informed nor told that what they were getting was actually a panoramic and I didn't realize it until the machine was half way around my face and it was too late at that point. A panoramic is only covered once every 5 years. I could have easily gotten my records but I was never informed that they needed the records in the first place or that this would be re-done!!! About a week later I called for a follow-up, after briefly speaking with the receptionist, another lady rudely interrupted our conversation, she got defensive, loud and rude and told me that my insurance did not cover the panoramic, and that $100 was due and that I better pay it immediately. I was in shock! They should have informed me before I was taken into surgery that this charge was going to be due from me, NOT afterward. And why would he choose to take a panoramic after my surgery? Wouldn't it make sense to do it before? This was his screw up, yet I had to pay for it? I feel I was taken advantage of during my most vulnerable time, when I couldn't talk and was trying to keep the blood from dripping down my mouth. I had not even gotten back anything from my insurance company at that point, and she was quick to yell at me even before it even got to my mailbox?? I also had to see Dr Hornaday several more times because he didn't do the job right the first time. I am in pain daily for the botched job he did to me. This is the most dishonest dentist I have ever been to. I knew about the negative reviews about him but i went anyway. And my experience was totally different. I just got the tooth pulled yesterday and it was quick, easy, and painless. i also got prescribed pain medication that i don't really need because it doesn't hurt that much.

I was told how much my son's procedure would cost. I paid the amount in full before even making the appointment. Months after the procedure, I'm getting bills for another $400! The amount I had to pay to begin with was outrageous already, especially considering the procedure took maybe 10 minutes!

As a pediatric dentist in Muncie I can say without reservation that Dr. Hornaday has provided superior care to every patient that I have referred to him. I would be very comfortable to have him work on me. He is AWESOME!!

Well lets see my experience started with a run around my primary DDS had a completion on and extraction exposing a sinal cavity in my jaw bone did what she to insure it would close however I didn't not. She refers me to Muncie ENT. Dr there did what he thought he could do. But no luck still hole in jaw leading to my sinus so he refers me over to Dr Hornaday. I call to get appointment they tell the have to call me back when they do say that I need referral from My primary DDS. Get that taken care of. I put off calling back to to the fact I had to other surgeries coming up. Get out of the hospital ended up with major sinus infection four days later. I call Dr Hornadays office to see bout getting in because of the exposed sinus cavity the say the can get me in on the 29th. Ok cool but doesn't help me with the sinus infection now So I call My ENT DR. they get me in put me on antibotics cool. Well I sleep most of teusday thinking it was Monday cause of all the pain meds I am on and just felt like crap overall. Missed appointment called Wednesday but office was closed same when I called yesterday call this morning to apologize and reschedule appoiontment lady puts me on hold . The entire staff at Dr. Hornaday's office was amazing. My young son needed three teeth extracted and I was more than anxious about the procedure. The staff was incredibly welcoming and understanding; Dr. Hornaday clearly explained the procedure and recovery process and answered all of our questions. Before we left the office, we knew exactly how much we would owe after insurance and had a treatment plan for our son. The procedure (scheduled for only a week later, which is impressively quick) was painless for our son - every care was taken to make him (and me!) comfortable. Dr. Hornaday and his staff were so caring for us after the procedure, making sure we understood the next steps in recovery. Dr. Hornaday even called us the next day (a Saturday) to make sure our son was doing well. I am beyond grateful for the genuine care, concern and skill of the staff and Dr. Hornaday. I absolutely do NOT recommend him. Not for anything. I was referred to him by my dentist because my wisdom teeth needed extracting. During the consultation appointment, he bashed my dentist, "I'm sure he's a really nice guy and all, but he is NOT an orthodontist", lectured me on taking better care of my teeth (yeah, I hadn't been to a dentist in over 15 years. I know exactly what kind of condition my teeth are in) and then overcharged me based on my insurance quote. When I called them and told them exactly what my insurance company said I should be charged, the receptionist got defensive and rude and told me that she was "looking at the paper the insurance company faxed over right now". But the insurance company not only didn't receive anything from them, they didn't fax anything to them either. When I went in for the extraction, I told them that I required sedation (nitrous). He held the mask over my nose for THREE MINUTES, then just started jabbing me with the needles with no warning. I was terrified and sobbing in the chair. I told him I wasn't completely numb yet and he said "I wouldn't do this if you weren't numb" and grabbed my wisdom tooth and started pulling. I squealed. He yelled at me and said he "doesn't tolerate screaming on his table". I cried the entire time he was pulling them. After he left, the nurses kept telling me how nice and gentle he is, as though I didn't just go through the total opposite. The only reason I ended up going to him is because I would have had to pay ANOTHER $100 for another set of X-rays at another oral surgeon and that wouldn't have been worth the cost I'd saved.
