Annemarie Russell

When I was a patient with Dr. Russel, I was dealing with severe bipolar 1. I was given shots of Ivega Sustenna. When I was upset about the 25 pounds I had gained, Dr. Russel told me I had REGRESSED & prescribed me a higher dose in tablet form, along with an anti-depressent. I was just feeling "human emotions" and her response was "more meds!' Not only had I gained the weight, but looked like a zombie for my daughter's wedding. People remarked how SCARY I looked and I have no memory of the event. I had a wear a huge dress, while my size 2 "mother of the bride dress" hung in my closet. Thankfully, 2 years later, I saw a new practitioner and was put on Lamictal . I recreated a life for myself.. People I knew would see me and remark "you are alive", "you're bright", you've changed, "you look human again". I was able to feel emotions, enjoy life and have friends again. This painful episode of my life has haunted me for years!

I saw Dr. Russell in 2000/2001. I can't begin to tell you how big of an impact she made on my life. I attempted suicide twice, and she did everything in her power to help me. She sat with me in an ICU room and listened to me sobbing and did her best to assure me that it would be okay. The compassion in her voice still makes me tear up today when I think back on that difficult time. There are some people who are born to be doctors and I believe Dr. Russell is one of them. Dr. Russell, I hope you read this. You probably don't remember one of hundreds, maybe thousands of people you've treated and one that you haven't seen in 20 years. Thank you for your amazing heart and care of me! I am doing well, not just surviving, but thriving. Because of you, I am working in a position that I am able to help people, too, and I hope I do half as good a job as you did with me. God bless you and your staff.

It's actually been about 12 years since I've seen Dr. Russell. With my poor memory, that I remember her name is a testament to my time with her as my doctor. She was exceptionally kind and understanding, while maintaining that doctor/patient relationship professionally. If I ever moved back to her practice area, I would trust no one else unless she recommended them.
