I have been Dr. Konen's patient for almost two decades. He has treated me with several different pain interventions over the years and I have had countless surgical procedures. I find that I can be candid and honest with Dr. Konen, and that he is an excellent listener. His treatments have kept me on my feet and out of a wheelchair, and sometimes even pain free. He is dependable, approachable and very kind. I highly recommend him and consider him a blessing in my life.

Amazing, caring Dr. I have known Dr Konan for 20+ years but, just recently became a patient. He is just as amazing now as he was 20 years ago. Blessed to have this Dr.

Does anyone actually know how to get to Dr. Konan through his front office staff so you can complain about issues? I've left countless messages asking to speak to him with absolutely no response. Been seeing his office for over a year now and you'd think it would be like clockwork but I still am forced to taper down or run out of meds because of total lack of response. As you can imagine, this puts a ton of strain on a body of anyone but for someone who has fought cancer for 6 years it's crippling! I saw Dr. Konen for pain in my neck following cervical disc surgery. Though Dr. Konen was very personable, his staff was not. Also, they do not call you back - it takes repeated calls to get an appointment. Furthermore, they sent me a "patient portal" to "communicate with Dr. Konen" following surgery. I sent multiple messages and none were read or responded to. Extremely disappointing.

Dr. Konen is a compassionate doctor. My brother and I both see him. He truly cares about his patience’s. We saw several pain doctors before him and they were only interested in money. I am thankful that we found him.

Dr. Konen was the only Doctor (out of 20+) who was able to identify and properly treat my issues. Dr. Konen’s needle placements are so precise- you sometimes can’t tell where he inserts needles. I owe a life time of gratitude to Dr. Andrew A.Konen and his amazing staff. I would not be here today if not for this professional doctor and his treatment plans.

It took me 8 months to find this practice back in 2015, and they literally saved my life! Two weeks after having a morphine pump implanted in my spinal column by another practice, the doctor who did it released me from the practice for missing the follow up appointment!! Further, they failed to give me any info on the management of the pump.Turns out, I'm supposed to have it drained and refilled every 3 to 4 months, and, they were supposed to give me a remote control for delivering an extra bolus of medicine for flair ups. So, after walking around with an empty pump for 5 months, I was in the most excruciating pain, I literally wanted to die. Dr Konen was 1 of only a few doctors in N. Texas that managed morphine pumps, and the others would absolutely NOT manage someone else's pump. He was literally my last hope. And, because of my dry pump, they brought me right in, avoiding the wait for a new patient appt. I have nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Konen and his medical assistants. It's obvious though, that the front desk people are under a lot of pressure due to the large patient load. The biggest problem from the patient standpoint, is the confusion at the front window, mostly when you're appointment is over and they send you back into the waiting room, they point you to a desk, and sometimes someone is there, sometimes not. SOLUTION: Between my late wife and myself, I have been in more hospitals and doctors offices than everyone in both of our families combined. SO: PERMANENT SIGNAGE! Just putting up paper signs solves nothing. Put up slightly larger, easy to decifer signs at each window, best place would be on the window on the side that's not open. (plastic, acrylic, etc) Further, put some type of tray at each window with, again, clear instructions on what to put in the tray, and if applicable, whether the patient needs to leave the paperwork and have a seat, or wait at the window. There are 3 windows, so, one for checking in, one for scheduling future appointments, and one for patients waiting for the lab in order to give a specimen. The only drawback for this practice is that the patient has to pay 2 (two) bills, one for the doctor, and one for the hospital. Don't get me wrong, I would pay a dozen bills to stay in this practice!! It took me 8 months to find this practice back in 2015, and they literally saved my life! I have seen Dr Konen since 2008. I was referred to him after another pain management Dr almost took my life by making multiple mistakes during a trial procedure. I am not exaggerating at all when I say the other Dr changed my life for the worse with his careless unfortunate mistakes. I had little hope of finding a good doctor, but Dr Konen is truly one of those exceedingly rare doctors who actually cares about his patients. He listens with empathy and concern. He takes his time and then does everything in his power to help you through various means. I am not 100% sold on our Western method of practicing medicine by throwing more and more pharmaceuticals at every problem and not treating the person as a whole, but his methods and his targeted medications have helped me for many many years. He's a true gem in a sea of mediocrity and I feel blessed to have found him. I have seen Dr Konen since 2008. I saw Dr Andrew Konan for migraines. He prescribed something I’d never heard of before; he called them lollipops. They were Fentanyl lollipops. Upon taking my first one I began spinning and could not walk. I called him and he instructed me to continue on, this was common. I stupidly did as told and within a few short weeks I had a problem- my body craved them, something I’d never experienced before. Months passed and I finally called his office for help and it’s unbelievable probably to you the reader but he refused to speak to me nor see me and his office told me to never call back. I knew I was in trouble and I was scared. Thank God I called/saw my family doctor who listened & cared. I told him everything. I felt I was a bad person, felt so ashamed. Thankfully my doctor made calls & I entered an inpatient detox that same day. I was better in a few days and was told my personality/character was not of a drug seeker. I’ve never abused meds so beware..Dr Konan is dangerous-I swear this.

I first met Dr. Konen after a surgery meant to save my life left me in so much pain that I had no quality of life. I met with him I think in 2010 and I was ready to hear that he could not help or that this was all in my head. To make a long story short, he listened to me and treated me with compassion and empathy. That is one thing most Doctor's either forget or just don't care about a patient with complex problems. But Dr. Konen is truly amazing in that after all these years that I have been his patient he honestly still has the same compassion and empathy as he did on my first appointment. Dr. Konen has been my daughters and my pain management doctor for more than 15 years. We started seeing him when he was at a small private hospital here in Dallas. Dr. Konen is bright, talented, and a highly skilled pain management specialist. He's also a good listener and a compassionate person. I personally do not take narcotics, but he has offered me multiple other options which have worked far better than any narcotic I had ever taken before fir pain control. Narcotics only masked the pain which I could still feel through the fog. The surgical and non-surgical pain management that Dr. Konen provided me are long-lasting and liberating. Dr Konen is a great dr but his staff leave me feeling like they don’t give a damn. They refused to ask him a question about a prescription that was given to me one day prior. She insisted three times I had to make an appointment to ask him a question. Now it’s been five days that I’ve been waiting on them to schedule an MRI.

I agree the staff is horrible. Been trying to get an appointment but no one returns my calls, my doctor has sent a referral twice and they still have not called me or returns my calls. And oh yes they are rude when you call them out on it. I hope Dr. Konen takes these complaints seriously as I am sure his patients are losing patience.

Nice doctors, horrible staff. They have a new prescription system that is called in electronically to the pharmacy and you are told to call them a week in advance to the refill date and they will call it in. For the past 6 months I have been ignored, lied to and threatened to be dropped as a patient simply because they DO NOT call the rx in to be filled on time. Past 6 months my scripts have been late 4 (FOUR) times up to three days because they don't call them in properly or on time. When you try to call them on it to remind or check on it, you either have to leave a message and never get called, they lie and say they will have it called in immediately and it doesn't get done, or they get SO FREAKING rude with you because "you are being pushy" and the staff answering the phone threatens to have you dropped as a patient if you don't leave them alone. BUT, how can you be late up to three days on a rx that is just supposed to be entered into a computer and sent to a pharmacy. It's because the staff doesn't care and when they are called out on being disrespectful, rude and careless they take it out on you the patient instead of owning up and just doing their jobs. Dr. Konen, you need to fire everyone and hire ALL NEW office support staff! ASAP. Nice doctors, horrible staff. Finally, a doctor who listened to me, looked at the big & little picture & connected the dots to alot of crazy medical issues plaguing me. My journey is far from over but at least now I think I have direction. As far as the office staff they have always been nice to me with only one person on the phone that was sarcastic but she was nice the next time so I brushed it off as her having a bad day. It was not the front staff but the doctor's assistant/nurse (not sure of her credentials). The phone system was a nightmare last year but I think they got that fixed because i haven't had that problem anymore. I always get follow-up phone calls after procedures. I was told that Dr. Konen often runs behind because he is so thorough with his patients. I could care less. I will wait all day for a great doctor rather than being herded like cattle & not listened to in order to keep a timely schedule. One time i actually had a doctor in the middle of an appointment tell me I was so sick he suggested I go to the ER to get my labs drawn but he couldn't do it because by the time the results were back it would mess up his schedule because his wife wanted him home at exactly 05:05pm. I'm still paying on that bill & would like to send it to that doctor. I would recommend Baylor pain management & Dr. Konen to anyone (well, anyone I liked. I was seeing a top pain Dr who treated me like a drug addict. Fortunately that Dr refused to see me anymore because I got pregnant. My neurologist referred me to Konen. Dr Konen is a great Dr. the problem is the staff that works for them. Can't get injections scheduled, don't return calls. If you pay online they can't find your payment. If you reschedule they charge you 50.00. If you have a injection procedure and you need to talk to a Dr. they won't let you. You are told to wait until regular hours. I agree with the other reviews that Dr. Konen is a great doctor, but his office support staff is awful. The nurses wait days to return voice mail messages and after being transferred to appointment scheduling, I have been on hold for over an hour, repeatedly receiving the same message that "All lines are still busy. Please continue to hold and your call will be answered in the ordered it was received." I've been on hold so long that is now after business hours, so I'm sure the office staff has gone home. If I had more time to waste, I would probably still be on hold when they come back to work in the morning. This is no way to treat patients who are in constant pain. Even other pain management doctors at Baylor have warned me about Dr. Konen's "office staff being a mess and be prepared to wait when scheduling an appointment." Surely Dr. Konen must know about this problem. I agree with the other reviews that Dr. Konen is a great doctor, but his office support staff is awful. Like others have said Dr Konen is the most brilliant physician I've ever come across in any capacity. He's a brilliant diagnostician, he will work tirelessly to get the root or roots of your pain where other doctors have failed or in my case overlooked ruptured cerebral blood clots & autoimmune disease since I was too young & too "thin" to even be evaluated. He continues to work with me & adjust my meds as needed; as someone w/ 2 small kids who dislikes having to take narcotics he continues to work to find the right combo of meds that don't cause too much drowsiness or other side effects but control my sometimes debilitating pain so I don't have to be continuously hospitalized. He has little patience for the incompetence or laziness of other physicians & is funny & compassionate & your quality of life is his #1 priority. Konen keeps up with all new pain & medical knowledge & cutting edge tech unlike most drs but if your w/o insurance or under insured he'll find cost effective solutions as well. Unfortunately he's staff is 1 star (theyre kind & friendly just highly untrained/inefficient) & he's 10 star. They're friendly but don't expect return calls, they lose payments & mess up billing statements & worst of all is the refill dept. They signed a contract to only fill scripts through mail order last yr because in their words "it would resolve all refill problems, allow the dr to refill scripts a few days early so there would be overlap & so no one would ever go without & reduce the need for constant phone calls between staff, pharmacy & patients". The opposite has occurred. You're asked to call in your refills a wk ahead of time. If you call multiple times a day, everyday then your scripts will only be 2-3 days late. If you don't call constantly expect your prescriptions to be delivered a minimum of one wk past due. This is a huge issue for those of us who are on long acting & acute relief narcotics or seizure meds, etc & may (have had to) have to go off of our meds which can be dangerous especially if we have autoimmune or immune deficiency issues because the pharmacy rep at his office won't return calls, calls in the WRONG meds early & then can't understand the problem! or claims she simply can't find the time to get the preapproved scripts signed off on...for days & days. The situation is unacceptable. I'd hate to leave Konen because he's literally the best doctor ever & even one of the most highly intelligent & thoughtful people I've ever met but the pharmacy situation continues to get worse & worse. If he weren't my dr he'd still be someone you'd want to sit & chat with simply because he's so brilliant. According to the pharmacy I'm hardly the only patient dealing with this issue & I've heard other patients complaining in the office. I know my pharmacy is getting frustrated & is flat out shocked by the situation. The other issue is if your under insured or uninsured, these mail order pharmacy charge 2-4 times what any local pharmacy will charge. So a $22 script will cost you $80-150 at one of the three pharmacies they have to use. And be aware, not all insurance plans will cover mail order pharmacies...mine doesn't so to get my scripts I have to pay out of pocket which I ONLY do because I love my doctor & that's such a rare situation in this day & age. The issue isn't solved if you have good insurance because they still can't find the time to call your scripts in by the due date. However, despite all these issues, Dr Konen saved my life & I would still recommend him strongly. Especially if you have some unusual & difficult to diagnose pain syndrome. I don't myself but I've seen it, he doesn't treat those patients like drug addicts or psych patients, he treats them like legit patients with legit pain to be treated and a condition to be solved which is a miracle in this day and age. I would simply suggest we all put pressure on his office to improve their overall efficiency and prescription policies. Like others have said Dr Konen is the most brilliant physician I've ever come across in any capacity. I have suffered from a mystery pain issue and have seen several doctors to figure out the issue. I have had some good doctors who tried to help and I've had awful doctors who refused to see me based on their "perceptions" that I was a drug seeker. I could not be more thankful of Dr. Konen. He and his staff have been incredibly helpful and I would recommend them to anyone with a chronic pain ailment. He wants things done right, and he's not one to stop just because there isn't a clear answer to the problem. He goes above and beyond for his patients and I have nothing negative to say whatsoever. His office also does great referrals (I had to be referred out to a rheumatologist, a geneticist, and he recommended some doctors for replacements from when I moved. I have great results with them as well.) I hope your experiences are as great as mine! I have suffered from a mystery pain issue and have seen several doctors to figure out the issue. Although, Dr Konen is not longer with Pinnacle, he continues to treat patients at BUMC in Dallas. I have been going to him for almost a decade and he is one of my favorite physicians. I have read the other reviews and they are accurate! He knows his stuff and he works long and hard to care for all of us requiring his expertise. His back office leaves a bit to be desired, but I avoid having to deal with them. Konen is an excellent pain mgt physician. PERIOD! Absolute worst Dr. I have ever been to. I suffer from a spinal cord injury from a gun shot wound. I have been in and still am in SEVERE pain from my injury. Dr. Konen performed the trial Electronic Stimulator implant in my back about a year and half ago and it completely FAILED! Dr. Konen was aware of the cyst in have in my spinal canal due to the MRI I insisted I have done and still went in on the lower part of my back where the Cyst is. He punctured it and had to go in somewhere else causi

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Konen and his staff! His knowledge of medicine and compassion for those of us that suffer with chronic pain is incredible. I always feel like I've gotten the best care possible after an office visit or procedure.

I have not actually seen Dr. Konen but have seen his P.A. Marcy for maintenance and adjustments on my morphine pump. Marcy was extremely knowledgeable about my device and I was well pleased with her attitude and disposition towards my condition. I realize pain mgmt offices have heard all of the horror stories from patients but she was genuinely concerned for my well being.
