Dr. Amiram Katz

I have been a patient of Dr. Katz for 20 years. He is brilliant, compassionate, and an incredible diagnostician. He has figured out my complex medical conditions when many other physicians could not. I thank God every day for Dr. Katz, and am forever grateful to him for helping me.

Dr. Katz treated and cured me of chronic neurological Lyme disease in the 1990s. Bless him!

In my opinion, that Dr. Katz is God's gift to me & to medicine. I have Chronic Lyme with cognitive impairment & I trust Dr. Katz implicitly! He is very caring & takes the time to listen & explain each 1 of your treatment options. He gives me all the the information I need. He talks to me prior to each examination. He wants to know, what has happened since my last visit and if I have any questions or concerns before he begins his exam. The last appointment I had with him was virtual, due to the pandemic, but it was non the less thorough. I live 2.5 hours from Dr. Katz's office, but I don't mind the ride a all, as I know I am getting the best care possible. I definitely know I will be in his waiting room for awhile, but I know every minute I wait he is giving the patient in his office his undivided attention. He wants them to leave feeling confident & well informed. I consider Dr. Katz my doctor, my hero & my friend. If he wasn't my Dr. I would go to many many concerts with him!

Dr. Ami is a brilliant practitioner who approaches his patient as a person rather than a diagnosis. He is willing to go "outside the box" and provides hope for his patients as he cares for them with skill and compassion.

It is only now, almost two years after which Dr. Katz put my daughter's physical and mental health at risk, that I can finally write this. It has taken two years for her to recover from his 'treatment.' He prescribed a medication (Amantadine) that sent her into a psychotic episode. He made no effort to help, never responded to my emails, and had his receptionist write to me when I texted, called, and emailed from the hospital. Only through my own weeks of research and finding one ER resident at Mass General willing to quickly research the situation were we able to turn around the situation (with one shot.) Dr. Katz charges outrageously, gives snap judgments, alludes to his assistant as though she is a medical doctor (she is not). When I summed up the weeks of problems in a letter to Dr. Katz, I never heard back. We ended up in worse shape after seeing Dr. Katz than when we first met with him. He almost destroyed my daughter. I advise against visiting this man.

Dr. Katz saved my life. Wake up America. He takes his time, listens, tests extensively but not unnecessarily. Too many doctors only know what they read in a medical book in school. I have been seeing Dr. Katz for over 20 years and he not only saved my life but my daughter's too which is something we don't take lightly! He is the most compassionate doctor I have ever met and brilliant on top of it. He NEVER gives up and will exhaust all possible causes that may be the culprit of one's symptom, even if the chances are very small, giving you hope & faith that you will get better. Money hungry thief. There is a current claim to the ct state medical board regarding malpractice.

Dr. Katz treated me for Lyme Disease over a long period as it effected my brain and memory (could not find my home, etc). While the disease has left its imprint on me, I am able to go back to work and life and family healed.

Amazing diagnostician!!! Very insightful and thinks outside the box. After living with chronic illness for 5y and seeing specialist after specialist, I had walked away with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and no effective treatment. It wasnt until an insight by Dr. Katz that we found out what the underlying cause was. Infinitely glad I found him!

Thinks outside the box..... can be late to appointments but when he has you in his office, you get 100% of his time and for as long as you need. He know so much medically he is totally worth the wait! Saved my daughter.

Truly a good person. Very knowledge and also very reasonable. Will spend more than a reasonable amount of time with you. Seems like this is one that is a real doctor and will go above and beyond in support of wanting to truly help people with very complicated cases.

Dr. Katz is simply the BEST physician I have ever met. His excellence is due to the fact that he takes the time to listen to every detail of a patient's story --- at least he did with me. And, he's a maverick - he is willing to boldly face controversial issues and problems with medicine as it is practiced today. My only regret is that i didn't find him first in the months and years following the health crisis I experienced in 2012. Do not hesitate in seeking his opinion and treatment. It truly saddens me to read such negative reviews on Dr. Katz. I began seeing him five years ago after dozens of appointments throughout every major hospital in Boston without any hope of a diagnosis. Dr. Katz literally saved my life, and I thank God for him every day. Even today, as I see specialists I cannot imagine how anyone is able to maintain their sanity throughout a chronic illness without a doctor so compassionate as Dr. Katz. On my worst days, I have never felt hopeless because I know I have a physician that will stick by me even though I have a case that is the farthest thing from textbook. That is one of the most inspiring things about Dr. Katz, he realizes that no diagnosis is ever like another. You will never feel rushed in his presence, and I honestly have to say that regardless of the news or lab results I have never left his office feeling anything less than relieved. There is no doctor in the world like Dr. Katz, there is no one even comparable because he provides such compassion and understanding mixed with a sense of unmatched brilliance that could never be replicated. One of the most unique characteristics about Dr. Katz is that he knows everything there is to know about everything. He does not limit his practice to only one specialty because he is one of the only physicians that understands that diseases do not fall under only one umbrella. As a result, you will leave with a diagnosis rather than only one piece to a complex puzzle. As far as the office staff, they are absolutely amazing. I see people complaining for no one answering the phones, yet I can say from firsthand experience that they have spent countless hours helping me with authorizations, insurance issues, and referrals. If they have spent that much of their time helping me and I am only one patient, imagine the amount of work they have to do for hundreds. If you have seen Dr. Katz and visited his office personally then you should know that such individual attention is provided to everyone that walks through the door that they cannot possibly attend to so many calls at one time. You may not get an “immediate” response but it is well worth it considering you will never feel like you are just a number to Dr. Katz or his staff. Also, when you do get a response (which is ALWAYS the same day) the response is always so thorough that there is no room for any level of complaint. Even more so, they are always so kind and willing to help that people need to have a better understanding for the time it takes to provide such compassion. They are all amazing individuals and I do not have a single complaint. Living with a chronic illness means that you have to count your blessings, and I can honestly say that having Dr. Katz as my physician is one of the greatest blessings I have been granted. Brilliant doctor, compassionate person, Always has an answer always inspires hope, that is why we refer to him as Doctor Hope. We would leave other doctors offices (and there were many) with no answers, depressed and hopeless. Not Dr. Katz, no wonder that people travel from around the country and the world to be in his care. He spends as much time as needed with you, his staff is friendly and helpful and he even has his adorable little dogs in the office, how great is that! Highly recommend.

There is no other doctor I have ever met in my lifetime who is more caring or more knowledgable. Dr. Katz is hands down the best doctor I have ever had in my life, and he literally saved my life by diagnosing me when others could not. I have recommended him to numerous friends, family and acquaintances.

Been treating me ongoing over course of more than 4 years. Dr. Katz is the most knowledgeable and conscientious physician I have EVER met. Although a neurology specialist, he has not fallen into the trap of looking at his patients only through the focus of neurology. Consequently several underlying disorders that he suspected, and were verified by subsequent labs, were treated as well as my Lyme disease. Some people have commented negatively regarding the office staffing. It is a very busy practice with one physician and I have found, even when they are busy, that I will eventually be contacted. Certain times of the year the office is closed. But the staff is also conscientious, and I suggest anyone that needs Dr. Katz expertise keep on trying.
