We've seen Dr. Gosman about 5-10 times in caring for our child (clinic, surgery, post-op). The one positive and the reason we work with her, is that her technique is unique in the region for our child's condition and made sense as the best option for us. We do not, of course, know how to assess the quality of her surgical skill but all went well, and assume given her extensive experience it is high. The big problem: Dr. Gosman has the singular worst bedside manner we have ever experienced in any service industry, period. Extremely condescending attitude to any question. Makes you chase obvious follow-up questions that anyone would want/need to know. Very poor at explaining things that we need to know to provide our child with the best support possible. Seems an intimidating boss to the healthcare professionals around her. Does not factor in practical realities like scheduling or creating at-home support networks at all in her guidance. Highly disappointed in the provider overall.

1. I’ve read the other reviews before I wrote my own, nearly a decade later. 2. TO THIS DAY, I could not be happier (when I saw Dr. Gosman it must have been in 2013). 2.a. at least once a week that I wake up and happy sort of recalling the post-op relief. 3. I watched a bunch of "botched" tonight and felt nothing but warmth and joy about my own procedure, as well as the urge to express it so here I go: pre-op and post op was great and phenomenally uneventful. 3.a. I recall— I almost made dr. g's office oatmeal raisin cookies before my last post-op appointment (it's not so weird when you consider that I was a high schooler in the mid 2010s) but then I remembered the sign in the waiting room that reminded people about other patient's potential food allergies, so I didn't bake the cookies— but I would have. I was overjoyed. 4. some reviews/complaints, to me, appear to *maybe* stem from inherently unfair practices in the US's (privatized) healthcare industry that ( I can imagine ) Dr. Gosman has no control over, such as US health insurance providers deciding how much time a doctor is allowed to spend with a patient, among other things. That’s my guess. 5. plastic surgery can be wonderful and life-changing or it can make you crazy. it's up to you and why you get it done. 5.a. you can change your body but you won't change your relationship with yourself 6. Dr. Gosman— I cannot recommend her highly enough 7. ciao 1. I’ve read the other reviews before I wrote my own, nearly a decade later. 2. While Dr Gosman is an excellent surgeon (my daughter has had a few facial surgeries that have gone VERY well- she is a perfectionist, I believe!) my complaint for this office is the long wait times. I have had around 6 appointments here and at every appointment they run at least an hour or more late (almost 2 hours today!) Very frustrating. Dr. Gosman operated on our child at 20 months for Metopic Craniosynostosis. He had a mild to moderate case but had severe symptoms that changed his behavior after 1 year. She listened to our concerns as parents and explained to us the possible ramifications of the operation which can have complications. Surgery lasted about 7hrs at Rady's Childrens San Diego and our boy did remarkably well. Dr. Gosman created a new cranial vault dome that expanded his forehead permitting brain growth in the frontal lobes. A month after surgery his scar is healing beautifully and his behavior has been steadily improving recovering some milestones previously lost, and hoping that language returns at some point with therapy. We fully recommend Dr. Gosman and her team which includes the excellent Dr. Levy from Neurosurgery. Thank you for your commitment and giving our child a second chance at reaching his potential. Thank God for Doctors like you who in the midst of a Pandemic risk your lives to help better that of others! Dr. Gosman operated on our child at 20 months for Metopic Craniosynostosis. Consistently an hour to 2 hours late for appointments, just to spend 2 minutes in the room with you. The most time I got with her was finally unloading on her the terrible treatment I'd received for the past year and a half. They add things to your chart that aren't discussed, I've had people at the office tell me different things regarding my surgery and after care, and even had a nurse open the door to leave while I was still undresses in the middle of the room. On top of that my concerns were repeatedly ignored and questions remained unanswered. I wish I hadn't had my surgery here, results were not great, so I hadn't had to deal with her for follow up for the next year. Should have found a better surgeon. Her facial expressions seemed to reveal disinterest during my examination. Not the best communication I’ve received from a clinician … surprisingly unprofessional at one point, lacking objectivity and tact. She skirted around a question I had regarding potential complications she had encountered with cases like mine. I didn’t sense the level of confidence my other UCSD doctors had. It’s a shame, I was looking forward to their help and now I’ll be seeking another team elsewhere. They spoke of her highly, so she’s clearly accomplished but as a patient my experience was a disappointment and discouraging.

My experience was terrible, she destroyed my life. She made me see her for two years for a lip reconstruction and when she decided to do the surgery she ruined my lower lip and left a big swollen tissue. I wish I can go back in time just to prevent myself from trusting her. She was never honest with me about the results of the surgery. Save your time and body from this person. Dr. Gosman could care less about patients, she's all about the glory & the spotlight & has no problem making patients wait 2, 3 4 hours for their appt - Office staff is rude & unaware, bathrooms are filthy, the whole clinic is a nightmare in the making and every single team member know it, including Dr. Gosman - but again, she could care less!

My son is now +3. His name is Kahleo. And I can't thank you enough, Amanda Gosman, for the miricle you did. He was 4 months old when you performed his surgery to fix his bi-lateral cleft. He looks like an ordinary boy and not once has anyone ask me if he was born with cleft lip. You are gifted in what you do and I want to remind you of that. Thank you so much for the passion you have and the things you will provide for many other families in need. My son is now +3. His name is Kahleo. Dr. Gosman is kind and skillful -- a winning combo in a plastic surgeon. I saw her for breast reconstruction following a double mastectomy and she was amazing. I feel so grateful to have found her.
