We Love seeing Dr Al. He’s the best. He’s been helping my kids for over 10 years. He’s caring, funny and the kids just love him. They both enjoy visits with Dr. Al and feel very supported. He helps with iep testing and recommendations and genuinely cares about kids.
We brought our daughter to see Dr. Al. for behavior therapy. After 4 or 5 visits, she had a melt down in his lobby just as we were arriving for our appointment. He came out of his office with a funny look on his face and says "oooooo, do we need to reschedule"? I was confused by his reaction. I replied "no, this is why we are here". We made it into his office and after telling him how things have been going for the last 2 weeks the first thing out of his mouth was to ask who her pediatrician is so he can write a referral for medication. I asked "medication for what"? He said "well her impulsiveness and this behavior". I was also confused by this because my husband and I told him at our very first apt that if at some point she did in fact get a diagnosis of adhd or something else that we would try everything else first before medication. Then when it was time for my daughter to have therapy with him she started crying and didnt want me to leave. Instead of engaging with her directly and trying to encourage her to participate in therapy, he said " we aren't going to do a power struggle today". So after pulling her out of school for therapy and driving 30 minutes to his office where she preceded to have another meltdown, instead of getting guidance and having therapy, I sat in the lobby holding my daughter and crying until I felt calm enough to drive us home. Such a disappointment. I really just felt like he did not really have a desire to help us. I felt as though he was just there to collect a paycheck. Finding a therapist is hard to begin with so to have this happen after 4 or 5 visits out of the blue is disappointing after already being established. It is also disappointing that after I cancelled all future visits, nobody reached out to me to inquire why.
Absolutely amazing!! If I could give him 10 stars I would! Loved his approach with my son and giving realistic, down to earth advice and his attention to detail with my son and on the parent side too :). Very blessed to get this referral for him and highly recommend to others to schedule a visit! Thank you, Dr. Al and Cheri :) Absolutely amazing!! If I could give him 10 stars I would! My daughter has been seeing dr.al since she was 7years old she is now 17 she absolutely loves him and so do I he has brought her so far and has done a wonderful work with her I would recommend him to anyone who’s child is having issues he can and will help them he is wonderful don’t believe me just read his books
I was refered by my doctor because she believes that I have ADHD. Our appointment started out by "Dr.Al" laughing at me asking why I think I have ADD. He told me that if I had it and it was just now being diagnosed, at age 25, it would be like finding a unicorn. When I explained why it had been brought up at work (constantly misplacing my keys, shoes, purse, ect) he told me if I can eventually find my keys, then I definitely don't have ADD. The only way I could have it is if I misplace my keys so badly that I can't find them and need to buy a replacement set. He told me that there's no way I could have made it through school and I couldn't be successful if I had ADD. I went into this appointment hoping to find answers. If it wasn't ADD, I was hoping it was something that I could seek counseling for. I was met with nothing but degrading comments and left feeling hopeless. My only hope in posting this review is that everyone avoids him at all costs and protects themselves. He should be ashamed at the care he is providing and most definitely should not be in the field of mental health. I wish I had read reviews before agreeing to see him. Not at all professional. Would not recommend, he has a chip on his shoulders about mother’s. Must have his own past history that hasn’t been dealt with. Did not help my child, terrible. Should have license revoked by state if children’s best interest are at heart.
Arrogant and Dismissive If the marriage counselor begins with "Most of the time marriage counseling doesn't work"...I suggest you get up and leave immediately. This was our experience and we hoped it would get better, unfortunately it did not. Instead he decided to jump into very personal questions followed by insulting assumptions and accusations without bothering to establish any kind of rapport with us or even background context to base his aggressive accusations on. We left feeling attacked. To add insult to injury, we just received a bill that is 3x's the cost of the person we are happily seeing now. THIS GUY IS A CLOWN. This man is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. He was rude and condescending. I believe he should not be allowed to work with children

We've seen him several times now and he is wonderful.
Dr.Winebarger has always come across to me as someone who really wants to help people. He always seemed spot on during my visits with him, and never left me feeling like we didn't accomplish something during a session. He even has a program where a patient can do tasks around the facility to cut down on the cost of the visit if they are strapped for cash. I have nothing but praise for the man. He needs to go back to college. I would not trust this man with my dog, let alone my child
