Full confidence! Dr. Groebs had a good bedside manner. I found him to be kind and compassionate, kind of a fatherly person (but not old enough to be my father). He did surgery on my finger, which I hurt playing a recreational volleyball game, and it was bent. 6 months of physical therapy didn't help. Although not everyone is fortunate to have a great outcome, I consider my outcome very good. I have good range of motion and abilities. My finger will not ever be the same as pre-injury, but I'm so thankful that I can use it and that I don't have the pain I had pre-surgery. The only thing I wish is that we had talked about anesthetic options before surgery (I'm not sure whose responsibility it is to discuss those options). I would have preferred to have the type of anesthetic that is given when you have a colonoscopy, but I wasn't able to choose that right before the surgery (according to anesthesiologist).

Please avoid this Dr, unless your problems are: very obvious, you don’t mind being man-handled, know that the surgery will work out perfectly, and don’t mind being spoken to as a non-human. My mom went to him for hand surgery, and the day of the surgery I went with her. He grabbed her hand roughly several times and made her recoil with pain. He didn’t say a word. No apology. No response. The surgery went horribly, though he would probably defend this to his grave. She has been in much more pain since the surgery; yet, he has shut her down. He tells her it’s in her head. His manner at the appointment was gruff, rushed, and cold. I asked her if this was how he was at all her appointments, and she said “yes”. If you are the type of patient who “cares” about others, this is NOT your Dr. My mom will not be going back to him for her other hand surgeries. I wish Drs like this would get shut down completely. This Dr went into medical “practice” simply because he wanted money. He does not qualify as a health”care” worker, in any way, though. Please do not support Drs like this if you have other options. Groebs was in the room for less than 5min and wouldn't really let me explain what was wrong and would cut me off when I would try and talk.. basically pushed me off for "test" that won't really show much! Waste of time and money.. I will find a new Doctor that will actually listen to the issue!

Overall a horrible experience. Did not look at my records, told me about medication that I should get on.... I am already on that medication. I was asking for help and solutions and what I got was "Be thankful you have a hand, the damage is done" Not helpful and should be ashamed to treat people this way. Clearly I was a number and not a person in this practice. Left me very upset especially when you are looking for help to fix something... Unacceptable... Please stay away you deserve more and you deserve respect.

Dr. Groebs came in and said that I would need surgery or my hand would be useless. He never asked how it happened, how I was feeling or explained what the surgery would entail. The rest of "my" appointment focused on my sister and her crooked fingers and how he could fix them. The medical record says that I was at home and missed a stair and broke my wrist. Actually, I was at Hobby Lobby at Valley Fair Mall and I fell backwards off a wet curb and landed on the asphalt road, and I extended my left hand when I landed. I asked to have the record corrected and Dr. Groebs refused, saying that the report was "correct and accurate as stated." I WAS THERE! My doctor is basically calling me a liar! It was an accident....There is no pending lawsuit, no money involved, so why would I make up a story? I think it is sad that Dr. Groebs won't admit a mistake and maybe he doesn't know everything. He is a very competent surgeon, but not a very caring doctor.

Dr. Allen Groebs is an exquisite orthopedic surgeon. He has performed surgery on my right arm on three different occasions. I broke my arm in a mountain biking accident back in 2003 and the surgeon, at the time, put a plate and screws into my radius. It was excruciatingly painful and it took a full year before I could even turn a door knob. I finally decided to get the plate removed in 2006 and that's when I met Dr. Allen Groebs. He removed the plate and screws, filed down a large calcium deposit that had formed on the top of my wrist and even fixed the look of the original scar so that it's barely noticeable. In 2013, Dr. Groebs performed surgery on my ulna due to an injury I sustained after falling on ice. In 2014, I had my third surgery to remove the plate in my ulna. The scar is barely visible. I referred two friends to him and they just loved him. He performed surgery on both of them. He is truly the best at what he does. I highly recommend him.

My daughter had surgery on a shattered elbow was in constant pain. We went to Groebs a year later to have him look at it. The nerve was tangled up in the scar tissue and resting on the bone and a plate. Dr Groebs moved the nerve, removed plates and screws and she feels 100% better!! We should have found him for the first surgery. She is pain free!!! He is a great Dr and he has great bedside manner as well.

I had a car accident in 2015 in which I broke my pinky. Doctor Groebs did the surgery on my pinky. He put my hand in a splint but waited too long to get me to physical therapy. My pinky now looks deformed and molded to the rest of my fingers in an odd way. Additionally, when I went back for my follow up, he pushed on my pinky and acted surprised when I screamed in pain. My car accident left me with 8 broken ribs, broken bones in my foot and the broken pinky. By far, the pinky was the worst of all. I had huge bills. Dr. Groebs would not work out a payment plan with me, but turned it over to collections, where he is now on a payment plan. Makes zero sense! I still do not have use of my hand. I cannot bend my pinky or make a fist. I wrote and asked Dr. Groebs to reduce the bill since I feel he failed me in multiple areas. Not even a reply!! Save yourself all the issues and find a different surgeon. He only cares about the money, not the patient. Doing the right thing is not something he will do! I was in a terrible mess after surgery to repair a torn biceps tendon by a doctor in Ogden that left me with a mass of bone growing on my radius. I had no rotation in my arm. I went to Doctor Groebs on a referral from a family member. Doctor Groebs took as much time as needed and spent 4 hours in surgery chiseling away at this boney mess. He then had radiation treatment done to prevent more growth. My arm is now back as close to normal as possible. I know it will never be the same, but thanks to this skilled doctor, I have close to full use of my arm again. He spent a lot of time researching this surgery as it is a rare occurrence. I was so impressed with his diligence and dedication to my problem. I highly recommend Doctor Groebs! I like Dr. Groebs. I was referred to him from another hand surgeon. He was the guy that I needed to repair my injury. I never had any issues with bedside manner. In fact, we spoke several times at length about other things aside from injury and such. Maybe we just understand each other, as I am also in the medical field. Maybe it's the fact the when you recognize and accept that Dr. Groebs in one of the best surgeons around, (Isn't that what we are all seeking?), then other things that we think we might need become secondary. The reality for me is this, and my experience backs it up - I had an injury and Dr. Groebs fixed it. He was straight forward and didn't beat around the bush as to what needed to be done, and I appreciate that. It's like ripping the band-aid off. The repair was done professionally and I trust that if I need to go back for whatever reason, my experience will be the same. So yep - I recommend Dr. Groebs all day long.

Dr. Groebs is direct, which I like. But unfortunately, he is very callous and jaded. He was rough during exams. He pushed so hard on a finger he fused, that I was still hurting 2 days later when I saw my PT. The PT was upset..said that kind of force could cause permanent damage. He also yanked my thumb hard before surgery while my daughter was watching in the prep room. (She thought he was a jerk.) I have many more examples. With my hands still visibly swollen from surgery, he gave me unrestricted clearance to go back to work. I had told him I was still experiencing a lot of pain with it. I lost the disability I was on and went back to work only to be sent home by my manager because she could tell that my hand wasn't working well and was swollen. The job requires my hands 100% of the time and Dr. Groebs knew that. The surgery has not alleviated pain. A sibling is still having issues at 2 years after his surgery with him. I do not recommend this doctor for many more reasons.

I had 2 surgeries by Dr groves the 1st one was great no problems at all with my left wrist and thumb. 1 month later I scheduled my right wrist, at first thought it was OK, went in to have my suters removed and when his many put me in a splint it wasn't the spika splint, at that time I questioned her but she said this was the splint to put me in . I have called several times complaint about it not healing, and have had several follow ups he keeps saying give it more time, but I can't even hold my phone or a magazine to read that's how bad the pain is. I'm on disability and only get my check once a month . I scheduled another appointment but it was before my monthly check, and didn't have the 40 dollars for the copay and they refused to see me. But I haven't had to pay a couple pays all the other times so didn't even think about it. My only days he see patients is Tuesday and Thursday, Tuesdays is the only day I can go so it would be a month before I could be seen. I would not refer him to anyone due to lack of concern for his patients . I am a registered nurse, and "do my homework" when I am considering surgery. I was referred to Dr. Groebs by a co-worker. Poor bedside manner. Abruptly dismissed my severe pain. Gave me a brace to wear at night. 2 months later, I had to beg him to do an MRI, because of the excruciating pain. They never called me with the results, and wanted me to come in for another appointment to get the results, which I refused to do. I finally found out I had an TFCC tear, which requires surgery. A cyct and arthritis. After having such an incredibly hard time with this Dr. I went to another MD for care & surgery. I am so upset!
