I was really unhappy with this Doctor and this Doctor's staff at first but I was also just miserable and in Horrific pain. This has to be one of the most poorly run medical offices in San Diego. The front office staff is very rude. While the doctor is nice the overall experience was terrible. I’ve never been to a professional office where they charge an extra fee to use a credit card. To rub salt in the wound when I went to pick my pain meds they put in the wrong prescription. Dr. Steiner is the most caring and concerned doctor I have seen in the 6 years I have been in San Diego. She is wonderful. The staff is pretty great as well.

So far I basically thought that she was following the New Laws for Opiates, let me tell you that I am 51 and in Horrific pain, with every step or movement, I have for three months been Patiently waiting for Pain Control but Until I had my Psychological evaluation I was refused pain Meds, so Finally, I have My Psychological evaluation, I am allowed Opiates for pain relief, she was supposed to have my Script delivered to Me, I called twice today and was told nobody knew what was going on and that Someone would call and Let me know, so here I sit in so much Pain, I can't sleep or breathe and I did everything I am supposed to but I am still suffering, I really wish I read these reviews before I chose her to be my Pain Doctor because now I am stuck with this Doctor...

Dr. Steiner and her medical assistants are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are friendly and caring.

Great office staff, great doctor. She Listens and is very thorough. Staff is kind and polite. I’ve been to 2 previous pain management doctors that made me feel like running out the door. Dr. Steiners’ practice is by far a better quality of human beings who care about their careers and their patients. I feel welcome and cared for here.

This place and this Dr are the absolute worst. Treating addicts like the cash cows they are but treating regular people that want to function as if we are the scum of the earth and a genuine inconvenience to them. Google the places you trust with your care.

I saw her years ago, around 2008-2010. She truly does care. She’s listen. It felt great for someone to acknowledge my pain and my issues and not try to down play it or assume I was faking it. But that being said I wanted to find a way to fix my issues and I felt like she over medicated the issue. I was in legit pain, but I also didn’t want to be a zombie. To be honest I’m still in pain but I’ve learned to push though. My pain tolerance is much higher. I honestly stopped seeing her because I got pregnant and felt most of what she did for me I could no longer do(meds), I wasn’t going to put my child in danger. Beyond meds she does use great tools. She prescribed me a traction belt and a tens unit. I’d love to know how to get another traction belt, it helped so much. I saw her years ago, around 2008-2010. She truly does care. She’s listen. Wake up everybody! All the most recent reviews are very brief and positive. They are clearly manufactured because after you work past them the reviews are almost all very negative, lengthy, and detailed. The details whether positive or negative are indicative of legitimate reviews. Fake reviews are almost always brief and lacking in detail. These reviews are fraudulent, even as bad as they are. I cancelled my appointment.

I'm just a driver for her patient. They have an unreasonably strict policy of not letting visitors like me use the restroom. I think that is wrong and that Dr. Steiner is very rude.

Steiner... Walks down the halls like a runway model Wearing designer clothes and shoes. It started out good , but when I questioned her procedures she disapproved. Then I felt a change in her attitude . In that she began to act as if "how dare you question my genius and ask questions" You will be urine tested in the restroom in the hallway, not in the office, in the restroom in the buildings hallway outside the doctors office. I felt that wasn't quite right walking down the hallway with a urine sample in a cup with people getting off the elevator and people walking down the hallway. She is very dominaring and I was made to feel below her unquestionable genius. I think she's German and all I could hear in my head was you are a girly man and unable to take pain like a real man. I have been with Dr. Steiner for over 2 yrs... she is a very very good, professional, ethical, very caring of your needs. Dr. Steiner is 1 of 2 Dr.s who dispense medication (controlled medication) for pain in San Diego County (with some research done), there is a lot of pain clinics pain specialist, but they do not dispense opiates like Dr. Steiner does and are very controlled through UAs (urine analysis) or though a mouth swab. This dr pretends to treat you on the first visit and then won't talk to you for the next 6 visits. Thats why she is being investigated by the medical board she is going to loose her license very soon.

Worst staff ever,didn't even have chance to see the doctor, they want you to fill out a 50 page packet or so, I have arthritis which limits how much I can tolerate to write so I did all the pages except fill the medication list page and I requested a printout of my list from my primary physician, which I turned in when I got to the clinic, nurse checked the packet and said, " nothing is filled out", I replied " I filled the whole packet except the list of medications because I have arthritis and I'm limited how much I can write while tolerating pain in my hands", and also a couple of pages I forgot to sign, and nurse replied "we specifically request the patients to fill out the whole packet, including the list of medications, what you don't have family to help you fill out the packet?" I was like "uhh I provided a list of medications and no, I didn't have anyone to help me fill out this huge packet". Long but informative sorry: After years, Alicja Steiner, MD terminated service today without explanation, I am no longer a profit for Alicja Steiner, MD, she treats others as THINGS to make $, extremely unprofessional always, Alicja Steiner, MD told me to provide letter exonerating her and practice "WHEN YOU DIE" (her exact words) from "opioid crisis", in my opinion, she really has no feeling for people, wait up to 4-5 hours to see her, shows hate when patients exert legal HIPAA rights, what is Alicja Steiner, MD hiding? i feel like someone threw a bomb into my life. She kicked me out when I needed her most. I have seen people leaving Alicja Steiner, MD office in tears. I find I am relieved to not have to see her every month. Without passion, I say she is truly vicious and should NEVER be allowed to interact with the general public much less administering "CARE" to anyone. I am so glad I don’t go there anymore. After reading reviews I see she has not changed her ways. Like a lot of people I liked her in the beginning and then realized all she cared about was money. She uses the drugs to get you physically depend and then has you do all of these procedures that cost a lot of money. She would charge my insurance company 1000. Or more a visit. Talk me into doing things that really didn’t help. And like so many others she dropped me because I no longer had insurance and could not find a doctor that did not charge 600. For an initial appointment. I went into extreme withdrawal and finally found a doctor that would take me for 100. A visit. I could go on and on of the horrors I went through there for 4 years. I was on opioids for 8 years before I finally had the surgery I needed. I still have a lot of pain, but I feel free not to have all the stress you are under with opioids and dealing with doctors, it is just not worth it. I am so glad I don’t go there anymore. The worst doctor ever! On my first visit she pescribed me 6 to 8 tramadol a day!!! On my second visit she said I have alcohol in my system which is FALSE because I don’t drink!!!! So she said that she won’t give me pain medications anymore!!!!!She is a shady doctor and the worst I have seen

This is a fair and honest review , i know some people get upset and want to tirade , but let me be very clear, it was not so much Dr Steiner that i saw the problem with but one of her head nurses . She treated me less than humanely , like a criminal when questioning me . This nurse was very hostile towards me , and I never got proper care . To this day , i still dont know my results of my x ray or follow up care . They didn’t answer my emails and I haven’t gotten any letters from their office. I believe this is malpractice but I will need to speak with an atourney. Nice staff. I feel comfortable speaking to Her. She shows compassion. Has a lot of knowledge and shares it with the patient. Have been a patient since April 2015. Will post update about the out come of what's going on right now. Have PAIN issues and with the new FDA changes will find out if I will have tools to manage it. Doctors are refusing to give US what works. Not sure if she's one of those. Praying she's not. No longer know if my Doctors are looking out for me..????07/29/17. I love Dr. Steiner, she has been treated my wife for over 4 years, she is very friendly with her patients, my wife visited many other providers, Dr. Steiner is the only doctor that helps my wife with black pain. The only negative is that some physical assistance needs to get more experience on how to deal with patents.

If I could give her more stars I would. Before I started going here my pain was unbearable. But since 2011, I have been visiting Dr. Alicja Steiner, she is AWSOME! Yes when they moved to their current location the wait time at times got a little crazy. But the staff have always been sympathetic and very helpful. Unprofessional All about working the Work Comp system for personal monetary gain. 2 hour wait for an individual unable to stay seated longer than 10 minutes without being in excrutiating pain. Finally seen. This lady is only a lil mill office until the idea comes down they try to undermine the system. This so called doctor, has the air conditioner turned off in the waiting room it was at least 90 degrees, and the usual wait time is 4 hours with an appointment. They treat everyone like DRUG ADDICTS.....

Her PA Justin has no bed side manner. Request her only or else you will see him. Weird. Long wait times. Be prepared to have it great in the beginning and it will go down hill. Fast. Good Luck

Had a terrible experience with one of their MA staff who goes by the name Johny. In the middle of talking to him he just walks away. He showed absolute disrespect to the point that the receptionist even apologized for his behavior. I advice you to look elsewhere if you want to be treated respectfully. I really enjoyed her in the beginning and felt that I finally found a doctor that could help my pain. After 3 months of seeing her I requested to be seen by only her because the other Doctor their did not make me feel comfortable. I had an appointment at 2:45 and was finally seen by 4 pm. During that time other staff members came in to ask if I would see their other Doctor because dr. Steiner had some where to be at 5. I didn't feel that it was fair that I couldn't discuss my issues with my current medication because she had some where to be. So I said " I'll be quick, I just need to ask her a few things". After that she came in and was yelling at me saying it would be my fault if her friend died I. The hospital and how selfish I am. I said sorry and that I wasn't informed of the situation. If I was informed things would have been different. I still didn't get to discuss my medication with her. She asked me what I want and wrote it down and left while still saying horrible things about me. I was in tears at that point and not one staff member said a thing. It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a doctor or anyone. I went back today and was scared to go back. I was put in a room and when Doctor Steiner came in she said " Good afternoon" I smiled and she said " I am speaking to you good afternoon" I said sorry good afternoon. Alicja Steiner is an excellent, caring and compassionate doctor. Very knowledgeable and intelligent. She is a specialist in two areas. The office staff is also very friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend Dr. Steiner.

I was in her office for the first time and was in the waiting room for at least 1 and a half hours. Filled out numerous paperwork. Then when finally called back to a room was waiting another hour for her to finally see me for about 15 minutes and just given medication that was half of what I was getting from from my previous doctor. Staff rude. Totally over booking patients, they dont bill your ins correctly, charge a dollar when using credit cards, wont return phone calls PLEASE STAY AWAY

Worst experience ever. Not only do they take a long time to be seen, but the staff in the back are horrible especially a female nurse with an annoying voice. We have waited up to 4 hours in a couple of occasions. Just last week one of the Dr's was late and we had an appointment at 8:30 a.m. we did not leave the office until 10:40 a.m. and again the lady with the high pitch voice said the doctor was there when we clearly saw him pull in and go to the elevator. I've been looking other places to go to. Be warned staff people can be rude and the doctor's do not care for the most part. Avoid this office and try to find some place else.
