Dr. Alfredo F Gei

Dr. Gei was my doctor for my son. I have PKU and a very complicated pregnancy. He went with me to pku appointments to learn and manage my extremely rare metabolic disorder, and managed my pregnancy with the utmost care, professionalism, and compassion. I am a Labor & Delivery nurse, and all of the L&D nurses want him as their ob for their pregnancy. Considering we know all ob doctors, this is all you need to know!!! 110% recommended.

I love dr. Gei he took great care of me and my baby during pregnancy. He takes time to listen to you and answer to all your concerns.

Dr. Gei is an amazing doctor. He was even willing to work alongside my midwife to see if I could have a natural birth with twins. I so wish he was closer up on the north side of town. If he was- he would totally be my go to doctor. The company he is with charges quite a bit so make sure you have good insurance coverage.

Dr Gei was my high risk dr for both of my babies. His bedside manor and expertise are unparalleled. His NP Sylvia is awesome and always makes herself available. The sonographer, Jim, was excellent and always tried to get new "fun" pictures for us to share with family. I had boty babies via csection and there is virtually no evidence of scarring. Our second baby had to go to NICU following his birth, but Dr Gei always made a point to visit with him and his treating physician before he visited with me for the day to give me an extra update. I would reccomend anyone to his office, yes the wait can be long, but that is because of the time he spends with each patient. Dr. Gei is one of the best doctors I’ve encountered. He has great bedside manner and truly cares about your well-being. He takes the time to explain everything in a way you can understand and is always willing to answer questions. Referred to this doctor after a traumatic birthing experience for consultation. Came to my appointment on time, but had to wait 3 HOURS to see this doctor. Which is ridiculous!!! After waiting 2 and a half hour in the lobby, I had to wait another 30-40 minutes in the room while they print out my medical record and sort it. He came in briefly but was extremely unprepared, didn’t review my medical record that was sent weeks before the appointment. Gave me general information, that I could have read off google. He didn’t care about what I went through, and was super insensitive to a grieving mother. He told me to go get a test, that was not recommended by 2 other OBGYN right after surgery. After the visit, the front desk tells me they are going to bill my insurance, and don’t worry about it. Then I get a big bill in the mail couple weeks after…It was about 4x more than the other OBGYN/fetal medicine doctor that I saw after him. I just got a sorry our rate it high when I try to ask them and I wasn’t made aware of this high cost before the visit. I was the last patient to be seen when I was there before other people…It was my first time at the medical center, so I called for help with directions to get to the garage after my visit. I got yelled at by the front desk staff for calling them after hours…it was such a terrible experience!!!The only good thing about this place is nurse, Sylvia. She was nice enough to offer her email for any questions after the visit, which I really appreciate, but I won’t be back or recommend to other people. Dr. Gei has been my doctor through two high-risk pregnancies. He is one of the kindest and most patient doctors I’ve ever had. He always carefully listens to my questions and gives me thorough responses. When he is in the room with me, he acts as if I’m his only patient. His sonographer Jim and physicians assistant Sylvia are also amazing! It is obvious that this is more than just a job to Dr. Gei and his team, and they really do care about their work and positive outcomes for their patients.

From the moment I called the office to make my initial appointment to the moment I met Dr. Gei I have to say this has been by far the best doctor office/doctor visit in my life! My midwives referred me to Dr. Gei for an issue I’m having with my cervix. I was super nervous to drive downtown to a new place but it was a really easy process. Park in the Scurlock tower garage and take the elevator down to 2nd level. Walk down the hall to other elevators and go up to floor 15! That’s it. There are people all around to ask for help. TAKE YOUR PARKING TICKET WITH YOU because you have to pay inside on level 2 before you go back to your car. I paid $7 for 2 1/2 hrs. I loved working with Rachel for my ultrasound and absolutely adored Sylvia, the nurse. She was the best communicator and relayed everything in perfect detail to Dr. Gei when he came in the room. I developed a yeast infection the day after my appointment and had trouble with my midwives helping! So I called Sylvia! Left a voicemail and she returned my call within 30 minutes with nothing but sympathy for my new symptom and immediately filled a prescription for me. Dr.Gei and all of his staff were amazing! The front desk, nurse, Mr.Jim the sonographer, and Sylvia, the P.A. were so kind and helpful, I was shocked by such a change from my previous experiences with other doctors. Dr.Gei actually spent time talking to me about my concerns and didn't rush through the appointment. The wait may be a little long, but it's worth it because you know he's taking time with his patients and giving you the BEST care possible. I'm so thankful that I was able to see him, it was truly a blessing. Finding the building and parking made me nervous, but it was really much easier than I thought it would be and the office provided great directions. After having a nightmare first birth with a terrible OB, Dr. Gei was the biggest breath of fresh air. His NP was incredible and caring, everyone in the office is wonderful. 6/5 stars if I could, truly. My second birth was so much better managed and it's all due to this doctor!!

Took great care of my wife and made her feel very comfortable throughout the process of her C-Section. We had to make a decision to go from natural birthing center (Nativity) to a next day C-Section appointment because of our breached baby girl. Dr. Gei didn’t pressure us in any way, walked us through the options and allowed us to make an object decision out of our few options. My wife was recently told she was in a high risk pregnancy and her regular doctor referred her to Dr. Gei. About a month ago my wife's father passed. My wife felt as if Dr. Gei was an Angel acting in Behalf of Her recently passed Father. He stayed with her until after she awoke after her surgery. Dr. Gei called me after she awoke from her surgery and he told me he had promised her he would not leave her side until she was awake and conscious. My wife and I have been blessed by such a good man in our time of need. He would come by afterwards and check on my wife and baby until my wife was released from the hospital. I had two breech babies and Dr. Gei did everything in his power to help teach me how to turn my babies gently. The first had to be turned manually and he was fantastic through that. The second I turned without manipulation. Long story short, I ended needing a csection with both and I trusted him fully. He’s kind, gentle, patient, listens, and is very open to listening to wants.

Dr. Gei is one of the best and smartest men I know. I work with him on a professional level. When I found out I was expecting twins I knew immediately I wanted to be his patient. Twins automatically made me high risk, but so did my marginal previa and some certain ultrasound finding they found on baby A. Unfortunately it was VERY hard to get through to the office to make an appointment. Literally rook me 3 days. Never received calls back from my messages. Finally when I made an appointment 4 weeks ago I was asked what insurance I had. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes so they could make sure my insurance was accepted. The guy came back on the phone and said it was. My appointment was supposed to be on Thursday. They just called me today at 5pm (after office hours) and told me that my insurance isn't accepted but I could pay out of pocket for the visit which would of been $1400...why they didn't call me two weeks ago when they said that that's when it took affect to where my insurance wasn't accepted I don't know... But I am livid and I plan on calling back tomorrow to speak with a manager. It's terrible that this is the first impression of Dr. Gei for many patients and it's not a good one. Even though Dr. Gei is a wonderful man and physician. I am now stuck and have to find a high risk doctor who can see me within a few days (impossible). What a phenomenal experience! I recently delivered my fourth baby (second VBAC) with him and can’t say enough good things! His bedside manner is amazing and his expertise is unmatched. His concern for each patient is so genuine. If I have another, I will definitely be delivering with him!

Dr. Gei is fantastic. I cannot recomend him enough. My first pregnancy, I had my daughter at 25 weeks via c-section, and two days later my daughter passed away. No one was able to tell me what happened. So for 3 years I stressed about having another baby as no one knew why I had my first so early. So when I got pregnant with my second daughter, Dr. Gei was recommended to me. The first time I met him he was very thurough and patient and took his time listening to me and discussing my concerns. He was able to immediately diagnose me with a short cervix and began treating me right away. I was extremely stressed out during this pregnancy because I was terrified of losing another child, but every time I saw Dr. Gei, I knew I was in good hands and my worries went away. I genuinely looked forward to my appointments because he has such a reassuring nature and calm attitude it just makes you fee good to be there. I also cannot say enough good things about the staff. The receptionist is extremely kind and helpful every time I called, and the nurses spent several days helping ensure I got the medicine I needed and in the mean time gave me a weeks worth of medicine for free to make sure I was on it while I waiting for my medicine to arrive. This post is 8+ years after the fact; but better late than never. Approximately 9+ years ago I was miscarrying and was rushed to Methodist hospital where I first met Dr. Gei and his staff. I was devastated to have lost the baby but believe that Dr. Gei did everything he could (and my own doctor had literally done nothing). Dr. Gei and his staff were very compassionate and gentle during this difficult time. A year later, when I was pregnant again, I immediately went to Dr. Gei. (Honestly, I no longer trusted my regular OB/GYN and I couldn’t help but remember how fondly I remembered him, even though my experience was pure devastation.). Dr. Gei is one of the best doctors I have met here in Houston. We had a high risk pregnancy with twins. Even with complications, we always felt in good and experienced hands. He is friendly, calm in hectic situations, and also takes the time to explain the options to me as a layman in a clear manner. Because of his advice, we were able to make the right choices. Every time we needed to see him on an urgent matter, he was there right away. As well, the unplanned C-section delivery at 4 AM was not a problem and done with absolute professionalism. (I was probably the most nervous person in the room.) The office staff is also very good and helpful for all the questions and checkups we had. The wait time in the office is shorter than expected for such a professional specialist, and scheduling appointments was never an issue. I was rushed to Methodist hospital where I first met Dr. Gei. I was devastated to have lost my baby but believe that Dr. Gei did everything he could to save him (and had I been sent to him when I first started having complications, the outcome would have been much happier). Dr. Gei and his staff were very compassionate and gentle during this difficult time. A year later, I was pregnant again. I saw Dr. Gei and he told me I was having the same issue again. Long story short, I have a healthy baby.

Dr Gei was my MFM for my last pregnancy. He is the most compassionate, caring doctor we have ever come into contact with. Fantastic doctor! I was referred to Dr. Gei by my regular OB due to high BP. I was seen weekly since 27 weeks. It's hard to find a doctor who actually cares about his patients and takes his time to explain everything. Dr. Gei went above and beyond to make sure I delivered a healthy baby girl! I am sure Dr. Gei is a great doctor in many ways but I will never recommend him to a friend and I will question any doctor who sends him referrals. I was told by my ob that he would give me a hard time about my weight but never could I have expected how he treated me in his office. He acted like a misogynistic, fat shamer. He made snide comments such as -do you own a scale? Have you ever stepped on it? I could go on and on with how unprofessionally he handled my care.

I was referred to Dr. Gei by my OB/gyn as I was pregnant with twins, and over the age of 35. From the beginning, Dr. Gei and his staff were very friendly, accommodating, professional, and I really became to trust them through all my visits. I saw Dr. Gei monthly (or weekly) from about 12 weeks until 35+ weeks, and would highly recommend him as a doctor. Dr. Gei always took the time to actually care for us, answer any and all concerns, and never made us feel like just another number. Thank you!!

Dr Gei is the best high risk doctor. His knowledge on pregnancy is incredible. He will understand you more than yourself. I had life threatening complications after my first child was born but only with the confidence of this doctor we planned our second child and we are happy family now. We are lucky to meet this doctor.. He is the best !!!
