I had top surgery with Dr. Schmidek in July 2019. It’s been three years now and I can say the outcome is wonderful. Better than I had even hoped for. Dr. Schmidek is an amazing surgeon and I have always found her easy to talk to about all aspects of the surgery. I describe her to my friends as a rockstar. :)

I have been recieving care at the va for the past 15 years and rarely venture out into the civilian world of medicine. However due to an operation that I needed to have to make my outside more congruent with my inside I had to find a civilian surgeon. Upon hours of research I chose Dr. Alexandra Schmidek. I have been very impressed by her and everyone else that I came across at Virginia Mason in Seattle. Dr. Schmidek took the time to explain the procedure and spend extra time addressing the areas of my concern. She spent time with me and made me feel like I was the only patient she had. I had to apply for FMLA due to work and upon sending the paperwork to be filled out, it was returned to me the same day. Same for the return to work paperwork. I had to reschedule my surgery due to the COVID19 pandemic and my support persons inability to travel during the height of it. When my surgery came time I was treated with the utmost respect by everyone I came across. Every person on the surgical team came to speak with me, and entertained conversations of my choice completely unrelated to the procedure. The night nurse and PCT helped me feel confident and waited on me as if there were no others, although I knew the recovery floor was fully occupied. The next day the nurse on duty took time to get to know me and spent time with me despite being busy with other patients. I never felt as if I was intruding on their important duties. During the post op the nurse took time to explain all necessary procedures and when I asked for further clarification she spent time to address those concerns. I chose Dr. Schmidek as the surgeon to do my bilateral mastectomy. I’m a transgender male and I definitely recommend going to her. The staff are all very friendly and Schmidek really cares about her patients. She does a great job and I’m super happy with my results!

I had top surgery with Dr. Schmidek. She answered all my questions and didn’t dance around anything. I felt she explained everything well. Plus the rest of the nurses and staff at Virginia Mason were also great. Would recommend that place for sure!

I felt very rushed by the Dr. She is very cut and dry. Dr. Schmidek is very high energy and talks quite fast. It was a turn off for me.

I was having a very difficult and personal surgery, and Dr. Schmidek was extremely sensitive to my needs, and kind. She went above and beyond standard practice and I will always be grateful.

Dr. Schmidek is such a great doctor and surgeon. She really listened to me and I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my breast reduction surgery. Thank you. My only regret is that I didn't do it 20 years ago.

I met with Dr Alexandra Schmidek at Virginia Mason Plastic Surgery. I was referred to begin the process of receiving a breast reduction to treat back and shoulder pain that is well documented in my medical record. She repeatedly insisted that reducing my breasts would give me a "disproportionate" and "not conventionally feminine" appearance. She then asked me if I had been raped or molested as a child and if that was why I was seeking the surgery. Rude, offensive, and ill-prepared to serve
