My son recently had a televisit with Dr. Zwil & he was great! He listened intently & answered each of our questions without making us feel foolish in any way. I APPRECIATE his knowledge of TBI & his basic explanation of the brain. I would highly recommend him to others.

WORSE DOCTOR! This doctor is very irresponsible, he provides treatment to my family member and we have a very hard time with him in terms of communication and treatment. Dr. Zwill has NO empathy at all, he doesn’t listen to patient or us (the family), he doesn’t know your history or information even when you provide your medical record; he will ask you to repeat self multiple times when talking to you. Dr. Zwill treats you very unprofessional and is careless about the patient or family opinion. He Never picks up the phone when you need him and takes a long time to return your call. I hope he can get a better training to empathize with his patients and family members that are also having a difficult time. WORSE DOCTOR! An extremely poor listener, unprepared, doesn't care about the patient's experience on medication nor believe them about side effects, doesn't read notes from other doctors, you have to berate him into coordinating with other doctors, took him 4 weeks to call the pharmacy to sort out the minor issue, degrading experience for many years. Consider retirement.

very experienced in Traumatic Brain Injury -responsive when needed - probably one of best in the area in his field

Pompous. Unable to do simple arithmetic to prescribe the correct number of pills on the correct dates. Problems encountered with almost all prescriptions over three encounters with him. Refuses to rectify patient running out of important medications owing to prescriber errors. Poor listener, confrontational even though patient is polite. Little empathy and poor "bedside" manner. Unfamiliar with state and/ or federal laws of prescribing. Either makes up nonexistent, nonsensical laws or every other psychiatrist must be unfamiliar with those nonsensical laws.

Dr. Zwil has been treating my husband since 2012 for the emotional and behavioral complications resulting from Traumatic Brain Injury. Dr. Zwil is an expert in this area and takes his time to assess needs based on each individual. Over the years, he has helped my husband find an equilibrium thru careful medication management. Dr. Zwil is not warm and fuzzy. He is not meant to play the role of psychotherapist. He is direct, honest, respectful and tough when needed. Strongly reccomend.

Dr. Zwil is an excellent Doctor my son who had a severe TBI when he was 7 now 28 was having severe behavioral problems , I was referred to Dr.Zwil from another Doctor cause Dr.Zwil having the most experience in treating severe TBI , The first vist was very intense Dr. Zwil gets right to the point I told him what was going on with my son and he question everything I said then he explain about the brain , took my son off of his medicine and put my son on new medicine now my son is great thanks Dr

Absolutely terrible! Hears you talking but does not listen to you. Does not return phone calls! Misrepresents himself and is misleading. His recall of events is selective. Empty promises.

Truly horrible experience with Dr. Zwil. I absolutely discourage anyone from seeing him

Absolutely horrible experience. I sincerely hope that no Penn Student ever comes into contact with this guy. With all the student issues at Penn taking place, I really hope there are good psychiatrists for students to see because this guy is the last one they should go to.

Terrible - awful. During my visit (which is all I can speak to) Dr. Zwil began the appointment 30 minutes late as he was unprepared for the consultation. I had sought testing from another UPenn doctor within the same building as him - but the testing was not available. Despite the appointment having been scheduled 5 weeks before Dr. Zwil had done zero preparation prior to our meeting in spite of him having the opportunity to review my file before hand. When the appointment finally began (30 minute late) Dr. Zwil spent 1.5 hours asking me to repeat several details that were in the report and had me repeat details multiple times as he could not recall what I had shared 30 minutes beforehand. He could tell my frustration over his lateness (without an apology) and him asking me to repeat myself - so rather than apologize, he took the time to make commentary / belittle me for being frustrated in what has been confirmed to be an unprofessional situation by others in the mental health profession. I am seeking a second opinion - which he scoffed at, although he did say he would not be offended, but likely insurance would not cover one. Based on my experience alone, I would not recommend him. Lacking in empathy, did not listen, asked client to repeat self multiple times, and belittled client when the client was visibly frustrated by Dr. Zwil's failure to listen and help the patient.
