Mr. Alan Maloon

Dr. Maloon is very knowledgeable. He listens with compassion and adapts treatment in collaboration with the patient. Over 10 years ago, Dr. Maloon was the first doctor to adequately explain my condition to me. I will always be grateful to him for his careful analysis and for his clear explanation of the issue, as well as for his explanation of the treatment plan.

I started seeing Dr. Maloon after many failed migraine treatments and doctors. He is quick and to the point, but in the short time I’ve been under his care, I’ve actually been able to manage my migraines for the first time in my life. He takes into consideration my lifestyle and preferences when setting up a treatment plan that works for me, and that’s something that I greatly value in a practitioner. Dr.Malone is a very caring doctor. He took time to listen and talked to me about treatment that we agreed to together. His office staff is caring, polite, and understanding. I would recommend this doctor to anyone who seeks a doctor in his field

My experience with this doctor was no experience. I contacted this office to schedule an appointment on March 10, 2022. When I finally spoke to someone, the FIRST question I asked was “are you accepting new patients”, the lady responded “Yes we are”. My appointment was scheduled for April 12, 2022. I received a phone call Friday, April 8, 2022, from a lady at the office, saying “we are no longer accepting new patients”. Doctor Maloon is the best! He is so helpful in so many ways (too many to list) just know if you are in need of a neurologist you cannot go wrong with Dr. Alan Maloon!! Great staff as well!!

Very Professional, explained everything and took time answering questions. Nice, kind bedside manner.

Based on the positive reviews, I was hopeful that Dr. Maloon would be able to help me with some unusual neurological issues that started several months ago. I've been experiencing seizures, intermittent days where I struggle to form thoughts or speech and can barely function, balance issues, pain in specific parts of my brain, minor visual hallucinations, photosensitivity, etc. At first, Dr. Maloon seemed very caring - he listened to everything I had to say, didn't rush me, wanted to schedule an EEG and an MRI to see what was going on with my brain, etc. And this is where the problems started. The staff at NeuroICH are desperately unorganized. You can expect them to not call you back, not schedule your tests in a timely manner (or at all, unless you call them repeatedly), misplace forms, etc. Eventually, after a lot of scheduling headache and delays from having to repeatedly call the staff for several weeks in a row, both tests were scheduled & completed. Over the span of a few visits, Dr. Maloon prescribed various different medicines for migraines - all of them were newly released, not covered by insurance, and cost over $1,000 each time I need to fill the prescription. Two of these drugs were approved after minimal research, and I was pressured by the nurse to accept one of these shots without being given time to do research or think about whether I wanted this. His diagnosis for me was simply 'migraines' even though my EEG had unusual activity and my MRI showed brain inflammation. Additionally, he at first claimed my MRI was normal, which didn't sit right with me since I had looked at my results before the visit and saw unusual white spots - when challenged on this, he said "oh yes, you had inflammation" then just claimed that's common with migraines. Migraines are a SYMPTOM, not a cause. If you want a doctor that will just give you medicine to "help" with your symptoms, then you're in luck. I personally will not be going back, as I will be trying to find a doctor that actually cares about the CAUSE of what's happening. EDIT: Fun fact. Dr. Maloon claimed my EEG was "mostly normal, just a small blip of unusual activity" - now that I'm seeing a competent doctor, they reviewed my records and told me that my EEG showed definite seizure activity. It's nice to find a doctor that actually cares to get to the source of an issue, rather than prescribing new meds for kickbacks. Amazing Doctor great atmosphere Really nice people and very helpful

Dr. Maloon listens to my symptoms. I didn't know there were several types of Restless legs. The staff was extremely nice even with technical issues. I'm glad I found Dr. Maloon

Doctor Maloon is an excellent neurologist (I have known others due to a family member’s disabilities). He is understanding and kind. He is very good at educating me as to my neurological challenges in a way that I can understand. If you are looking for a neurologist, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Alan Maloon.

Dr. Maloon was very nice. He diagnosed my problem and provided me with a treatment plan. He even set-up my prescriptions for me. He didn't ask a bunch of unnecessary questions and he immediately understood what I was experiencing. I would recommend him and his staff, overall excellent experience.

He was absolutely awful. He never acknowledged anything I had to say. He never diagnosed me with anything. I’m having a lot of issues with my health right now and that didn’t seem to matter to him at all. I had a whole bunch of notes with what I’m dealing with he didn’t even look at them. I wasn’t even in his office for 10 minutes. I hope I never see him again

Best in the business hands down! Absolutely meticulous about treating you. Not only a great doctor but will take the time to explain what he has diagnosed and how to treat it. Highly recommended.

I have had terrible experiences with doctors in the past and was very wary of having to try a new doctor, especially in an emergency situation, but I was unbelievably surprised by my experience. My appointment was amazing! The office staff was very nice and helpful. All follow up tests and appointments were scheduled very promptly. Dr. Maloon was personable, understanding, and you could see how knowledgeable he was. He really listened to myself and my husband and considered my complete history when discussing all possibilities of what could be going on. He really eased my anxiety about the whole experience. I would 100% recommended him to anyone and everyone. As always, Dr. Maloon listens well to any issues, is friendly & easy to talk to. He is very knowledgeable and remembers every detail about me, the regular migraines I have, & the medications I am taking & adjustments to my meds. Highly recommend to anyone with headache or other neuro problems.

If I could give this doctor zero stars I would. I went in complaining of pins and needles, numbness, visions problems, cognitive impairment, falling, tripping, dropping things.. etc. (Basically every single symptom of MS). Dr. Maloon looked at me all of five minutes and didn’t even do an exam or check my blood pressure. When I was going over my symptoms he interrupted me and told me I was going way too fast for him to keep up. Seriously? You’re a neurologist. Told me I had nothing wrong with me but he would send me for an MRI to prove to me that it’s all in my head and there’s nothing wrong with me. The office never called to schedule the MRI and when I called to leave multiple voicemails I received no call back. They literally blew me off completely. Dr. Maloon proceeded to tell me I just had migraines and sent me home with migraine medication. Migraine medications severely lower blood pressure in people who already have low BP. Which I do and he didn’t even check it so how would he know? Very disappointed in this doctor. Beware. Don’t waste your time here. You won’t get answers. I went back to my Rheum who in fact did blood work and is suspecting MS. Sending me for an MRI and referring me to another specialist who will get me the help and treatment I need. If I could give this doctor zero stars I would. Been a patient for almost 4 years and SWEAR this WONDERFUL man saved my life. Helped diagnose me with a rare neuro disorder that other proclaimed best Emory included couldn’t. Appointments are easy, especially the Botox which could be dreadful. Would be VERY HARD to trust ANYONE else with what I have going on. It is not an understatement to say that not only did Dr. Maloon give me my life back but he actually is directly responsible for adding "good" years to my life. After seeing two other neurologists who wanted me to see psychiatrists for what they deemed to be psychosomatic symptoms, I finally went to see Dr. Maloon who immediately and correctly diagnosed me with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease. I am a young woman in my thirties and this is rare, but Dr. Maloon caught it! The diagnosis was confirmed by a DatScan of my brain. I am now on medicine that allows me to move again, but more importantly, I am taking early measures that are soo important when dealing with this disease that will add years to my life. I would not have known what was wrong or how to fight it if it had not been for Dr. Maloon. I would be much worse off. My family and I are eternally grateful to him for his knowledge, compassion and general good will.
