Dr Chen and Ashley his PA-C were terrific. I am 72 years old (tissue paper skin) and have very little bruising and NO PAIN. His office runs smoothly & timely. I am so glad my physician recommended Dr Chen. My total experience has been great.

Dr. Chen is a wonderful doctor whose expertise & kindness are beyond compare. Dr. Chen and his office staff were able to schedule and set up my appointment at a moment's notice, and the care I received was exceptional. I would highly recommend Dr. Chen to my closest friends and family.

Dr Alan Chen is a surgical god - there is no other way to describe his amazing skills as a surgeon. I recently consulted with him regarding a breast reduction, lift and reducing my implant with a smaller size to retain decent form. As a 67 yr old, I wasn’t expecting the truly amazing results I got. I haven’t seen my breasts look this amazing since my early thirties! My expectations were to relieve the weight of sagging fleshy breasts due to age, childbirth and over extended implants. Thank you to Dr. Chen his office staff and surgery team for the professional and compassionate care I received!

I was stunned ! The front office staff were amazing! Told I was the first patient at 9:30. Did not get in until 10:30. I can understand this to some degree. No problem. However I had an appointment at 11:15. Then I was sore and anxious to finally see Dr Chen. I am happy he has students as well. By now, I needed to get moving. I did not want to tell my story twice to his student and then again to doc. That must of been the reason he did not have respect or patience with me. When asked, does it hurt here, does it hurt here and hear again . At that point he had not even touched the sore spot , which were my two middle knuckles. He said , it's tendonitis. I said how do you know this very politely. His response was , 20 some years of experience. He suggested steroids at least 3 times to which I told him I do not have tolerance for them. Again , with my polite voice. He then took down his face mask and said, (sharply) " Then I can't help you!" And proceeded to walk out. I stopped him for a moment and he said loudly , what do you want me to do!! I suggested an MRI and he expressed I didn't need one and walk out. Left me crying and I was in shock . Gathered my belongings and had to leave. Sadly I slammed door to which ,, I called and apologized to the staff. Asked if he could call to see if physical therapy would help and never returned my call. Received 2nd opinion and turns out , was a minor fracture and arthritis to which I was refered to therapy. Other doctor also said was not tendonitis. Glad I received a 2nd opinion. My duration of my visit with Dr Chen was all of 5 minutes. How does a doctor do this to a human. Oh, I Know... He's not human. I've never felt this bad after seeing a doctor. What a horrible experience! I DID have TRAUMA and you didn't listen to how I injured my two knuckles. The exray I provided you did indeed show a fracture. As well , a seasoned Ortho validated from same exray and took new exray. He stated I did NOT have TENDONITIS. He told me therapy would benefit my injury. Correction , I did not refuse steroids, I stated they cause severe migraines. You should have been more compassionate to understand my tolerance to that type of medicine. Your lack of professionalism,,, of pulling your mask off your face, shouting at me and walking out of the room was seriously inappropriate. If you can't use your operating instruments or push drugs , a patient does not matter to you. That's how I see it. Just terrible ! Stick with plastic surgery. You get private pay. Which is more then what my insurance would of paid for an injury. Your eye was more on the money. Compassion for the beautiful and not the injured is were your heart is. UPDATE : HE CHARGED MY INSURANCE $643.65 . TO WHICH HE RECEIVED $103.05 I RECEIVED A BILL OF $18.19. Which normally is not a problem to pay for services received. BUT CLEARLY SAID IN SHARP VOICE " I CANT HELP YOU!" Therefore, why did he charge $643.65 to a service he could not do? If I could give zero stars, I would. After waiting over five hours at a hospital, I was referred to come here. Turned out to be a huge waste of time. I came in Tuesday and was told that I would not be able to get help until Friday, since he is busy and even mentioned himself, Dr. Chen., that he does not get paid anything for this type of surgery. Instead, he'd rather me go home with open wounds on my face from a dog bite and wait three days like that. Once I started crying, he suggested if I'd like to pay out of pocket, he can take me Thursday. Such a disgrace. He didn't show one ounce of sympathy, nothing but arrogance. I was also told by the amount of lidocaine needed to numb my face to avoid going under anesthesia would kill me. He was only trying to make money out of this deal and would rather put me under, aside from already waiting a few days with open wounds. When I left, I was able to call around and find one that did it out of his heart and did not make it about money. I was in within less than 24 hours with the other surgeon. I am now recovering and had a wonderful job done by an incredibly much higher rated, much more educated, plastic surgeon. Oh and I was stitched up with local anesthetic - lidocaine. I didn't die or even come close, as this surgeon knew what he was doing. Chen was either telling me a boldface lie to make money, or so uninformed about the very medical procedures he is hired to do that he shouldn't be practicing medicine. This is the guy who does this job for money itself - not about the welfare of his patients. Save yourself your time and give your money elsewhere. If I could give zero stars, I would. I was a medical student and worked with Dr. Chen for a month, both in the OR and in his clinic. I was thoroughly involved in the care of patients and watched how Dr. Chen and his staff practiced both in front of patients and behind the scenes. Having worked with many doctors, I can confidently say that Dr. Chen is one of the most experienced, kindest, and talented physicians I’ve had the honor of working with. He is *very* well versed in both plastic and hand surgery and always puts the patient’s best interest above his own. Even when he’s not in front of the patient, he’s always looking into new ways that he can best help the patient. I would refer my friends and family to him in a heartbeat. Highly highly recommend! Dr.Alan Chen is most definitely THE BEST at what he does, surgical staff included. For his surgical expertise/ perfection, and genuine kindness, I will be forever grateful. I don't know what I would have done without him honestly. Laura, his surgical assistant was very thoughtful and kind as well. I have been going to Dr Chen for 10 years. He is a great Dr and his nurses are amazing. Unfortunately, Henry in billing is very rude. I was asking a question regarding a consultation charge that he was very rude in his explanation. I have no problem paying but when it’s higher than I have ever experienced I was just curious why. At the end he asked if that was all and when I replied yes he hung up. This is disappointing since I have also referred many people there. I would have to rethink further visits if this is what I have to deal with I have been going to Dr Chen for 10 years. He is a great Dr and his nurses are amazing. Dr. Chen is an amazingly talented surgeon and healthcare provider. He listens to your concerns and makes sure that all of your questions are answered. I worked with Dr. Chen as a student. He is an amazing physician/surgeon and extremely knowledgable. He ensures his patients understand their condition and has their best interest in mind. I would definitely trust him with any plastic surgery or hand surgery needs!

Absolutely recommend!! Dr. Chen and his staff took care of me for the removal of a painful cyst on my hand. I put surgery off for 2 years. When I finally made an appointment for consult, Dr. Chen told me he could do the procedure in office and took the time to put my fears to rest. The procedure was quick, painless, and Dr. Chen and staff were comforting through it all. When it comes to any surgeon, there has to be a level of trust built. This surgeon knows what he’s doing. I met Dr. Chen at Silver Cross Hospital after suffering a horrific hand injury where I cut four tendons two nerves and an artery. The emergency room doctor couldn't stop the bleeding. Dr. Chen was call in and he made temporary repairs. I've had two surgery's over the past 6 months I'm very happy with the work he did on my hand. His staff is the best and his assistant Emily is very professional. I highly recommend Dr. Chen for any surgery you may need. They work hand in hand with Midwest Hand Clinic.

Without doubt the best reconstructive surgeon I have ever met. His knowledge and expertise are above exceptional and professional. Dr. Chen is personable, kind and speaks to you with respect. You will not be disappointed making the choice to consult with him and his staff. You are in great hands ...he also is a master with a needle and sutures. My scars are 20" length up and down, 18" side to side...I had to point them out to another Dr..even with trained eye they are almost non-existent. I visited Dr. Chen office three weeks ago, since I step into his office people was welcoming and really helpful from front desk to intake as well as his assistants, I saw Dr. Chen and after examination he decide I need minor surgery in my hand, in 10 minutes operating room was ready and he did surgery, prescribed pain medication to overcome my pain 2 days ago I went back to get my stitches removed, every thing was perfect, thanks dr. For your help I really appreciated, best hand surgeon in town.
